    Hi everybody,

I've just made a backup of my desktop HDD. It occurs to me that it would be good to duplicate the desktop enviroment on my laptop.

    Both came stocked with Windows-7.
    • The desktop has a HDD with about 1TB but uses only about 70GB.
    • The laptop has a 200GB HDD

Can I simply "restore" to the laptop, or is that going to open a can of worms.

    Thanks,
    -Paul-

Since they both have Win7 there is little benefit. My advice is to leave it alone. The reason is that your desktop and laptop have different hardware and thus different drivers so you can't just copy the image onto the other machine and boot it up.

The paid version of Paragon has a feature for doing this which essentially helps get the drivers changed and the OS configured for the new hardware but I don't think this is in the free version.

Regardless of being able to do it, I just don't see a good reason to pursue it.
