I apologize if “ctfmon.exe” has already been discussed. It took me a long while working with ProcessGuard to get to it to run on my system without causing me more problems than solutions. I now seem to have a handle on it. The only alert I continuous get when I restart my computer has to do with ctfmon.exe. I get the following alerts: ctfmon.exe was blocked from creating a global CBT hook ctfmon.exe was blocked from creating a global GetMessage hook ctfmon.exe was blocked from creating a global Shell hook Should I allow this executable to set the hook mentioned above? Thanks, mzford
I looked up ctfmon.exe here: http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ctfmon/ It is a legitimate file, so if you use it, then I think you should allow it to gain the permissions it wants. Alternatively, you could remove ctfmon.exe from your startup list (I don't know if you use it though).
I would definitely get rid of ctfmon.exe from your autostart lineup, it is not generally needed. You can find out how to do that here:- http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=282599
