Re: Kristal Security 2012 [0.0.1.x Beta]

I make a system backup (just to be carefull) and I come back to try this great & promising software:D
For the first time on my 7HP 64-bit there are no errors:thumb:
Great job mr Kristal, updater seems working well

now the only problem is checkup , it is working yes but seems blocked at 1%, could be my poor "3°world" internet, I don't know...tomorrow I will try again, but seems a great step forward on 64bit systems compatibility

UPDATE: nothing to do, Cristal connected to your server but i sent only 1 packet, is blocked at 1% (I use W7 Firewall so every outbound is allowed)

Cristal still continue check Recyclebin and propt me

    Hi,

    @ Romagnolo1973:

    Thank you for the feedback!

It is good to hear that it is working now.

About your System Checkup: I think it is because of your network speed, maybe i am wrong. If i start System Checkup then also on my computer it stuck on 1% for about 10-25 seconds, then % will increase.

To help you with this problem, i will make internal database - this is also good for other users because system classification time will be 40% to 60% faster and all suspicious files will be analyzed with cloud before end.

    Regards,
    Kardo

Re: Kristal Security 2012 [0.0.1.x Beta]

I firend of mine trying Crystal on his Win7 32bit and is the same, Crystal Security scan stopped at 1% and even after an hour is still processing 1%.
Mine internet is a 2megabit, his is a better 7megabit, same ISP Telecom Italia (first ISP in italy), but same issue. Could be because we are Italian, something blocked in your server from country ?
I check with TCPView and seems Crystal sto sending data to your server, just some bytes and after this stop sending and terminate the process

    Hi,

    @ Romagnolo1973:

    Thank you for the feedback!

Hmm, there is no restrictions for Italy - very strange.

I will try to figure out the problem and make changes to fix it.

I saw and it works, i think one thing, I and mine friend we use Norton DNS, could be the reason? Sometime it block some traffic, the connection was as stopped after some seconds, I don't know, but now you solved:thumb:

    Hi,

    @ Romagnolo1973:

Yes, it is possible. Can you configure Norton DNS so that it allow
Crystal Security connections? If you can then please try to use version 2.4.0.7 again of Crystal Security.

    Regards,
    Kardo

Re: Kristal Security 2012 [0.0.1.x Beta]

Don't worry was a control scheduled this morning (at h 1 was time for sleep :D ) and in fact my idea is correct
    NORTON DNS block your server
This is my step to step:
I virtualize my system with Toolwiz Time Freeze Free (I use it to try your program or others)
I change DNS on my router from Norton DNS to OpenDNS
I don't have any dns setup on my pcs, is set on router that is better and easier
I download and instal your last version and try chechup and now it works as you can see
You must talk with Norton DNS service to solve the issue because a lot of people use Norton DNS cause is safe and works great
Norton DNS I use are the security DNS

    Preferred DNS: 198.153.192.40
    Alternate DNS: 198.153.194.40

You can send an email after your investigation to
nortondns@symantec.com or join their forum and open a thread

Ahh the RecycleBin issue is still exist and can you insert and indication of version on the top?
For ex: Crystal Security | Home Edition | V. 2.4.0.7 because there is no version indication at all

Other little issue: If I do a checksum again, Crystal add the same items so they are duplicates and mine 13 potentially malicious becomes 26 and 39 and so on ... if you can is better a control for not duplicate object founded something as a checklist control if the entry is the same --> show just one time

Mine potentially malicious are safe programs if you want set as safe internally they are:
    Toolwiz time freeze
Crystal Security (lol well I think is a safe program you don't?)
    CCleaner
    HitmanPro
    lame.exe
    MediaPlayer Classic Home Cinema
    Puran Defrag

ahhh just other suggestion: if I try to manage the 13 "malicious" using right click mouse button I only can see these choice:
    BLOCK OBJECT
    IGNORE
    ADD TO BLACKLIST
humm add a "ADD TO WHITELIST" please because isa missed possibility, Ignore is not the same thing even if finaly have the same result. Yes I can whitelist the entry using the whitelist button but need to navigate to their location so is not so immediate as a entry on the context menu right click
    Thanks

    Hi,

    @ Romagnolo1973:

Thank you for the valuable information and suggestions! :thumb: :thumb:

Good to hear that System Checkup is working well now. I will contact
with Norton about their DNS block - hope that they will allow Crystal Security connections.

I will fix Recycle Bin problem.
Also i will improve System Checkup reports (mainly unknown objects), add version indication on top (as you suggested ;) ), Add "Add to Whitelist" option
to System Checkup right click menu, fix System Checkup reports (duplicated objects problem).

PS. One thing you can do is to uncheck report unknown tick under settings for System Checkup.

    Regards,
    Kardo

    Also, alert overload...;)

    e.g.

    ScreenShot_Kad_CrystalSecurity_v2.4.0.7beta_07.jpg

But, I know that they all relate to Vipre AV, which I updated earlier today, going from version 4 to 5.

    Hi,

    @ Tarnak:

    Thank you for the report.

Hmm, Can you test out version 2.4.0.5 and 2.4.0.6 of Crystal Security?
If in these version System Checkup working well then please let me know.

You may also try System Checkup in 2.4.0.7 version again - there is possible that it was
    one time error.

    Alert overload will be fixed.

I will check again with the earlier versions, however I did try with v 2.4.0.7 several times and even after a reboot, as per screenshot...

I may get back to you later tonight, but probably not until tomorrow with the results of further testing. There is something I want to catch on TV, tonight. :)

Just retrying v2.4.0.05 and getting a new error that wasn't there the first time around.

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

Re: Kristal Security 2012 [0.0.1.x Beta]

    Hi,

    @ Tarnak:

Thank you for the tests and results. :thumb: :thumb:

Seems from results that System Checkup is working well in
2.4.0.6 version. What about last version?

How is working Checkup with 2.4.0.7 version?

Yes, nictasoft is one of the cloud database. My program compare
objects with this database and when you click System Checkup then it will
    connect to this database.

I see that System Checkup is taking so long on your computer. At least for me
it is slow. about 28 minutes is your checkup duration.

I will make some changes to improve it.

If you have some time please try to test System Checkup with 2.4.0.7 version.

PS. For example on my computer it takes only 2 minutes. But as i mentioned earlier
classification time depends on network speed and also on files amount.

    Regards,
    Kardo
