Sounds like thats right. The site in question is Demonoid (I know people despise torrents, but I use it for the forums). I assume the Demonoid cookies are saved somewhere that allows you to view the website and then stores those cookies and then allows you to click the link in the email and view the new post in a subscribed thread.

Ive added AVG's link scanner to FF. I like it better than WOT. WOT shows a page as being good or bad based on user reputation. The link scanner actually scans for malware. I dont care if a page is bad as long as it doesnt have malware. The malware is what I dont want.

Im considering also making Avira on demand and running a single very light cloud based AV on demand. Maybe Immunet-Clam? Thoughts?

You got a typical setup eh? :doubt:
Don't you want to go LUA/SRP way? :thumb:

Dragon, give panda a try. Even though I do like the premise of immunet. I would think that panda has a larger database. Having been around a little longer.

Ah. Well that kinda narrows things down. Have you tried using Avira free real time and ditching the ads.

    just recieve an email

    Hello,

I am just writing to let you know that we are approaching our final release, Immunet Protect 2.0. There is a 'closed' beta/bug scrub for people to help test the 2.0 version before we ship. I am opening it largely to people to who have already used the product. You're welcome to take part, if you would like to be included please just let me know at your convenience.

Interesting. Sounds like they are moving all rather quickly in development. Thats always a good thing.

Since you are not on LUA/SRP mode... You should add protection to your critical registry hives by using Windows Defender.
just disable scheduled scans and application execution agent to reduce I/O

    Sandboxie is excellent.
LooknStop is a rule-based firewall. But you may try to check Privatefirewall aside from its firewall it has nice HIPS component to cover some bases left uncovered.

then you choose which AV you like best.

Windows Defender with Clam-AV Immunet is running right now in real time.

LnS has application filtering as well as rule based filter with a host of choices and configurations.

jmonge I was using Avira, but I feel like a cloud based AV will be lighter and offer the same protection as I dont really do shady stuff online and if I did its sandboxed anyways. Can I get a link to this beta sign up?

MBRGuard to protect your MBR from changes especially against rootkits.

try panda cloud on its next official release to see if its more stable than clamav immunet.
stick with immunet for now as i find it more stable than panda currently.

    Add LinkExtend to firefox. http://www.linkextend.com/

Much like WoT or McAfee siteadvisor, it places site safety ratings next to search results. Difference is, it pulls these ratings from six different services, including WoT and siteadvisor.

Should consider adding a HIPS as well. OA or Comodo.I'd say Comodo because you're on x64.

    Hitman Pro is good too.

No thanks on a HIPS. Far to annoying.
