Laptop w/xp pro has slowed quite a bit (dial up)!

Have 9 things quarantined in Bit Def. .... have run scan....sent report!

    Ran Panda o/l scan.....nothing

Ran Adaware, Spybot, A-sq, CC Cleaner, CWS and have SWBlaster/SG.

Couple of days ago while looking for appropriate .gifs for the 10f degenerates at one site I got a popup from Bit Def that it had detected a virus.

Not sure of procedure to follow.

    Hi Bucky,

    I have no clue!

The 9 file names in Bit Def quarantine are "Trojan.Holax.A...", "JS.Trojan.Downloade...", and 7 not named.

    The 9 files are suspect w/"Exploit.Html.Codebas...", 5/w "Exploit.Win32.MS05-0...", and"JS.Trojan.Downlode..."

I sent a report to Bit Def a couple of days ago.

    Cheers, ed

    ...3 hrs later....Found and quarantined "Exploit.Html.MhtRedirect.Gen" in "ed's/temp files". Am I confused?...naaah!

  6. Ed,

Just downloaded both files from PcHell.
    Win 9x list's version 1.0.0.28, XP and other's I presume show version 1.0.0.23.

Muahaha! I'm glad you cleared that up! I got version 2.1.0 from Lavasoft.

    Now I'm really scared!

  8. Sorry for any confusion .... didn't know you have the one from Lavasoft, my downloads > Option^Explicit. Major Geek's list's a version 2.0 (though couldn't download), Platform > Win All. I'll assume any version beyond 2.0 from them is All win compatible. Anyone care to confirm?

  9. Ed,

Step 9 from the General thread link's to PcHell (option^explicits) where there's a choice for OS. Confused? :D
The *option* BS references doesn't matter where the new version from Lavasoft is concerned.

  10. Also grabbed the one from Lava ... ver 2.1.0.0 confirmed! ;)

  16. No safe-mode? Then make sure you close all running app's prior to a system scan, offline.

That figures! You'll just have to run it in normal mode as GF said....

  18. You could try TrendMicro's Sysclean Package (google) which runs in safemode .... I believe Norton and Sophos offer a similar setup. BitDefender does offer a console scanner but I'm not certain if it's safe-mode compliant ....

  19. Follow directions carefully, disable BitDefender offline and prior to booting safe mode ....

I'll try the other cockamamie routine first and see what develops. I'll forward the negatives.

Well...you know that this routine was assembled by Mr. Blacksmerg and I was informed that he failed "round hole...square peg" in Nursery School. Thats why, after 20 yrs he was able to advance to Wilders 'Mailroom'.

It's kinda like searching for a needle in a fresh pile of manure!

What are you doing here!! Don't you have some tree limbs to gather or something! Remember...when you see a bunch of animals gathered at the water ... always drink upstream!
