Convert WMV to AVI

I would like to convert a wmv file to .avi format.

My preference is a open source or freeware program.

Can anyone help me?

i use it and it works great.

 

Format Factory is great I have used it for a long time with Kaspersky and no alerts there plus it supports a good list of audio, video, image formats.

 

If you use Format Factory, just watch the installation screens carefully and don't install the ebay shortcut. I've not had any issues with it either and it works pretty well.
