    Hi Friends,
I'm using ESET SS 5.0.95.0. This mostly happens on my WinXP sp3 32-bit desktop system, but also occasionally on my Win7 64-bit laptop. Both using the same ESET version, and os fully updated.

I have a screenshot to show the problem attached. The info shown in the red ! triangle dropdown is the same as what I see in the system tray/notification area. It tells me that the virus signature database is out of date. But when I open ESET to update, it tells me "Update is not necessary". When I click on the blue "Update..." text, the download does begin, and database is successfully updated.

This has been happening ever since I upgraded to this version of ESET, but I haven't had a chance to report it yet. I don't use the desktop machine much anymore, and it doesn't happen as much on the laptop.

I don't necessarily need this to be fixed, since the program otherwise seems entirely functional. But I just thought I should let you know. Although if there's an easy fix, I'll do it :)

Here is the info from the About window, in case you need it. This is from the desktop, where the problem happens the most, and I'll provide the info from the laptop, when I get back to that computer....if it's needed, please let me know :) Actually I guess it will be the same info, since it's the same version?

    Hello,

Is there anything odd about the time and date settings on the computer?

Besides checking the system date/time, did you click the icon after the update process was completed and the latest update fully installed ?

The time/date settings are showing the proper date and time, on both computers. Is there something else about the time and date settings that I should check on? And if so, why would it cause this conflicting notifications?

After the update finishes, the system tray does say that the database is successfully updated.

    Thanks :)
