Sounds like a Quake (or Unreal Tournament, depending on your pleasure) mod waiting to happen!

Webroot Spy Sweeper and Counterspy are probably the leaders in spyware detection at the moment, and can currently be wholeheartedly trusted. Spybot and Adaware are trusted freebies. As for that review that made Aluria the top performer. Well the site is afiliated with Aluria. Do the maths!!!

ok a quick summary to date of all the scanner confessions.

ewido said i had a drop trojan on my recovery partition - sceptical

ad-aware said i had cool web search - appears to have removed it successfully

aluria says i got perfect keylogger - very sceptical - can't delete with free version anyhow

xoftspy says i got Ibis toolbar - maybe - can't delete with free version

spybot deleted various including mediaplex and advertising.com

webroot free scan says i'm clean - sceptical

installed a-squared (free) as beefcarver suggested - it found a drop trojan on recovery partition - wonder if it's the same one ewido is supposed to have deleted?

spyware doctor says i got sahagent - sceptical - can't delete with free version

the only two that agree on anything are a-squared and ewido (maybe)

there has never seemed to be anything untoward going on so if there is stuff still there it's very quiet and in stealth mode :D
