Computer freezes: how to troubleshoot?

    I'm having problems with my computer freezing now and then, usually while browsing with the Opera Browser. I've noticed several events in the log but I need someone to take a look at them or to guide me in how to troubleshoot this myself. I've recently had several events saying "File-system filter Amon: released file: PortLoop" but I don't know if this is related to the freezes.

    Can someone point me in the correct direction?

    Info:
    Smart Security 5.0.94.0 standard settings. Auto mode firewall
    Windows 7 Home 64-bit - fully updated.
    Opera 11.60 and Opera 12 alpha (same problems with both)
    Reformatted the PC a month ago.

    did you have Nod installed? The AMON module is a residential (i.e. it runs in the operation memory all the time) antivirus monitor, which automatically checks files

    I only have SS5 installed and no other anti virus programs.

    uninstall ess and try something else

    Did you have another security program installed before ESET Smart Security? If so, what was that?
