    A) I'm running Comodo FW 3, latest version, on one of my images. After just 3 days of training, I set the FW at "custom policy" & D+ at "paranoid".

    B) One thing has me puzzled. I recognize Com's white shield in the system tray, but WHAT is the significance of the little red imp that stands behind that shield? 90% of the time, the imp is there. 10% of the time he's not there.

Does anyone know the significance of the little imp thingee?

    C) In any event, I discovered that the "key" to taming version 3 (after its initial training period) was to do the 4 steps listed below. I would VERY much appreciate any comments (pro or con) or further suggestions that might help me get better use of CFW. The steps I used are:

*1- Firewall > Advanced > Predefined FW Policies---
I reviewed/edited each default policy in order to understand it. In a very few cases I modified a policy, or added a policy, or renamed a policy.

*2- Firewall > Advanced > Network Security Policy---
I reviewed each process that was categorized as "custom" in order to put it into one of the predefined FW policies discussed above.

    *3- Defense+ > Advanced > Predefined Security Policies---
Same action as for step 1 above

    *4- Defense+ > Advanced > Computer Security Policies---
Same action as for step 2 above.

    D) In other words, my *configuration goal* is to use a PREDEFINED policy (rather than a custom policy) wherever possible. In a few cases, I have had to add & define a new "predefined" policy in order to comply with my *configuration goal*.

    E) BOTTOM LINE-- Com rarely pops-up any more, & those pop-ups are readily understood & handled. At this stage, I rank Comodo FW "fairly easy" to configure" and use. (Except for the little red imp. WHO DAT?)

    aloha... bellgamin

Okay -- so the imp has fire coming out of his... oh, never mind. (blushing)

Just tell me, does the flame graphic signify something or is it just decoration?

    Hello. :)

Well, if it's not there 10% of the time, than it's not a decoration. AFAIK there is no flame decoration behind the shield in the tray icon. Just the shield with a checkmark. The flame is on the desktop icon ;)

bellgamin, is this the "imp" ? -

I just went exploring into comodos res files directory and spotted the tray icon file. The fire is there but very small, bellgamin zoomed in so much that you can actually see it :D. You must have good eyes.
