I would try Online Armor on your Windows 7 and see if it works without issues.
The free version lacks some features but the core protection is there: a well designed FW and a full fledged HIPS.

timeless52, your words resonate with me.
There is something to be said for simplicity and lightness.

My setup may not be at the tip of the spear but it has never let me down either.

With a good DNS service and a few browser security add-ons within Firefox I find it difficult to improve upon overall.

Hey sorry to hijack your thread. Are you talking to me? I was asking Joe Libson, but I'll take advice for any other helpful member.

Thanks, I may give it a try.

I haven't been following the forums of late but do you have anything against using Comodo v5 in Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.

As timeless52 said Comodo has bloated beyond recognition.
Online Armor is still simple and effective (if it works without glitches, any of this programs, including the "big" ones like Norton or Kaspersky may screw your machine).
You would better keep in mind that the best protection is the user behind the keyboard; and that said consider the following:
    http://www.mywot.com/
    http://www.sandboxie.com/
    http://www.winpatrol.com/
    http://www.piriform.com/

All of this will work along your real time software (whatever it is).

As for on demand scanners go for:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
    http://www.surfright.nl/en

All of this are free, just make sure you're installing the right version and that you read the instructions/settings.

    Happy surf.
