yes PC Tools FW does have a HIPS function, its called Enhanced Security Verification, although its not all that noisy and precise of D+ is i think.

Not that i am aware of. It's the job of the hips to do that...

Protect from termination no. Protect from manipulation, well, it depends. If it's a malicious process trying to manipulate a legitimate process, Twister's behaviour blocker may see this and block the process. But there is no certainty. If you want certainty, only classical HIPS will do that.

Process guard free btw (not a firewall though) can be used to protect from termination and modification , as well as execution protection. Like a very simplified D+. By today's standards i would call it "lite version" of classical hips.

I 've run this combination for a while. They don't present any conflicts with each other.

In deed. Be aware that Twister is pretty aggressive and so it generates often false positives. But if you mail their support, they fix it very quickly. I used to have about 8 FP at a time, now i have none.

Twister used to flag Ashampoo Firewall's driver as rootkit too (ASWHide), but since i sent it to them recently, it seems fixed. Also if the file is small, it has a built-in FP submission feature, where you submit easily the sample to them as false positive.

The best thing about Twister, is that you won't even notice you have an AV. It's *that* light. (Add a "CPU Time" column on your task manager and you ll see. DW will be your main CPU eater with that setup. Way more than Twister). You will notice it however, when you defragment your hard disk. Twister is scanning the files that are defragmented and slows down the process. So when you defragment, temporarily disable realtime scanning. (Right click on tray icon).

There is also a possibility that FDD under mysterious circumstances can cause random BSOD. It has happened to me from time to time and sent Filseclab the minidump. But it depends on the system i guess, since no other Twister user has reported it here.

As i have written before too, ironically, the PRO version of AShampoo firewall is buggier than the free. It also has a worse interface in the rules section.

But it's true, that when this firewall has conflicts with other security programs, they are usually big ones. When it clashed with TF v.3, i had to use the reset button, the PC was totally unresponsive.

Running fine with TF v.4 too... Go figure!

Ashampoo is a firewall of the extremes. Either runs perfectly or you need to uninstall it immediately. :D
Fortunately, it runs fine with Twister, which is my only "stable" item in my security setup.

When I was installing PC Tools FW I got this message: "PC Tools FW is not compatible with Windows XP" ...

Now I am using Zone Alarm without any problems ;)

well ive run basically all of the programs mentioned in this thread with defensewall at one time, none of them seemed to have any conflicts, but my personal favorite is PC Tools Firewall, beta 5 to be exact
