Um, none of what you repeated addresses what I said.

    The main question and answer:

Q - I dont want to wait for updates. Do you recommend me to uninstall CIS 5.0 and install CIS 5.3 if I have my own security configurations with a lot of changes to the defaults?
A - No. It is better to wait for updates if you want to keep your existing settings. Although importing your previous security configuration might keep your existing settings, you might miss new modifications to the default policies. Are there big security risks if i do so though? No.

Says that settings are not saved and it is best to wait for updates automatically, which is what I said was a bummer to wait for.

It sounds like settings export will work with minimal to no risk when reimported.

New release works fine. Too much to be real.

    Thanks comodo. Great update.

Perhaps, but why not make software that allows you to download and simply upgrade your existing setup? Why export settings, uninstall and then reinstall and then import?

Lot of extra work for no reason really.

Just my opinion...no hassle really. Used to write software myself. The user installed the latest version and it updated the existing version. They didn't have to uninstall my app before installing the new app. Made things easy. ;)

So I did uninstall and reinstall and now the virus signatures will not update. Anyone else? Says my Internet connection is not active. Well, I'm on the Internet and typing this. Perhaps an issue with the new release?

Same error message for me too. I installed 5.3 last night, and it has worked great until now. I bet it's on Comodo's side, as I have seen this error message before in 5.0

I've noticed that scanning takes much longer than before. Hopefully, they will improve that in the future.

Hmm it might be because Cloud scanning is enabled by default in the manual scanner now.

I did the same, and no problems, have you imported the old settings after or before the update?
I didn't import them because with the whitelist I just had a few app's on the trusted list.

I've enabled cloud scanner on the previous version, yet it was half as long. Maybe the new rootkit scanner is the culprit.

I did import settings from the previous version.

Nothing I did could get it working.

Rollback RX is my friend. I rolled back to a few hours earlier and am back to using the older version. Obviously something is wrong in the update...at least for some of us.

The existing program was working fine. If we didn't have to uninstall and reinstall to update, then maybe it would still be working fine...meh, whatever...

I had to go back to version 5.0 because there are compatibility problems between EAV4 and CIS FW 5.3.

EAV 4 crashes randomly and last night I had this pop-up

and the EAV4 icon went red

I think that somebody said in Comodo forums that EAV detected cpf.exe as malware, they have already reported the FP to ESET i think, maybe this is the problem.
Try adding all the comodo process to the exclusion list of EAV and report the False Positive if still ESET have not fixed it.

    EDIT: I found it:

Thanks for your reply, but it is not a matter of Exclusions (they were properly set when EAV4 crashed me three times, passed some hours, one after another reboot).

cfp.exe is reported (and quarantined) as malware during installation, but.... if scanned later gives no alert o_O

The problem is that EAV4 and CIS5.3 seem to have problems to go together

No alert if scanned later, is due to that it is already in the Quarantine as you mentioned.

    No.
I removed cfp.exe from the Exclusions, so it was regularly scanned (I think) with no alert

When will the update be released to download through CIS itself?

I imported my old settings but had a look at the new default registry rules for any changes. (I've been importing this set since v4) If you've been importing for a few releases, you can check these with your current set and add any that are missing if you don't feel like starting from scratch...

    Protected Registry Keys

    Automatic Startup

[This one was removed... now there's nothing for wow6432node.]

    *\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows*

Many rules in Important Keys have been replaced by single broader coverage rules. Here is the new set:

    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSeto_O\Services\*
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSeto_O\Control\*
