    I have a PC with multiple IDE channels running Win 2000 Professional and I am using TI version 9. The system has a single hard disk. If I attempt to clone that hard disk and place the target disk on the same IDE interface as the master disk the clone operation is successful. However if I place the target hard disk on the second IDE interface the program completes successfully but the system fails to boot after replacing the old master with the new clone. Both disks were jumpered as master disks on their respective IDE channels. Is this problem due to a bug in TI or the operating system.

    Hello golferdc,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please make sure that you use the latest build (2302) of Acronis True Image 9.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

    To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
    then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

    If that does not help then please download the latest version of Acronis drivers, install it with disabled logging and see if the problem still persists.

    If the problem still persists after installing the above updates then I'm afraid it requires deeper investigation.

    Could you please collect the following information?

    - Create Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post;

    - What exactly do you mean when saying that "the system fails to boot after replacing the old master with the new clone"?
    Do you receive any error messages when trying to boot from the cloned hard drive? What exact error messages? When exactly you receive them?

    - Provide the exact vendors and models of both source and destination hard drives;

    - Perform the disk cloning operation when booted from Bootable Rescue CD (created using build 2302) and see if the problem still persists. Let us know the result.

    Please also create Acronis Report in the way described below:

    - Download and run Acronis Report Utility;

    - Select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;

    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed with creation of the bootable floppy;

    - Shut down your PC and install the cloned non-booting hard drive as master (as if you were going to boot from this disk);

    - Boot the computer from the beforehand crated diskette and wait for report creation process to finish;

    - Collect the report file from the floppy.

    Submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will certainly investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
