Can anyone suggest a good, free clipboard replacement. I was using ClipBoard Recorder, but it would wig out on me every now and then. I tried A to Z but the pop-ups are killin' me. Also tried ARS, and IMO it's garbage.

I'd like something simple e.g. no multiple board each holding 25 clips. Just something that will hold clips of text, gifs, .jpg, One console to view what you have and perhaps a section to save items permanantly <-- not that important, but while I'm at it I may as well ask ;-)

Just to pay it forward: I found two apps that I'm delighted with. AnVir TaskManager Free(been around awhile, I sure many are aware of it) I'm actually considering the paid version. I need to look into it. For me it replaces Process Explorer & What's Running. Then there's WinPad. It's light, fast and has a ton of features.

    Some features of WinPad:

    WinPad is a FREE software
    *

WinPad comes with more than basic text formatting features like:
    o

    Center, Right, Left align text
    o

    Underline, Strikethrough text
    o

    Set text as subscript, superscript
    o

    Change text colour
    o

    Change text background colour
    o

Change text to lower or uppercase
    o

    Insert images in the document
    *

Recognizes hyperlinks and clicking on them launches your browser
    *

WinPad doesn't have the 64k limit of Windows Notepad
    *

    Ability to email the file.

I think M8 Free Clip Board may come with a toolbar, but that is optional and does not need to be installed. I do not install toolbars, myself.

I tried quite a few and found a fair number that were ill-behaved or simply did not work under Vista.

That's too funny. I think it's either ARS or oh, I forget, maybe A to Z, has the same Up-Grade software "Spartan". I know I wasn't using M8 'cause I've used it a few years back and woulda remembered it, at least the name. Again, I think?? Unless I was havin' a senior moment.

I tried (too) many of them and settled for little freeware CLCL v1.1.2!

AnVir Task Manager is most excellent, I bought a lifetime license myself and am using it everyday. WinPad is nice text editor, you could also give a comparaison shut to Atlantis Nova (last freeware version available here).

FWIW, something changed in my install of the M8 Clipboard. It started popping up the nag notice to "upgrade" to the paid version multiple times a day, often when it was not even in active use.

I have uninstalled the M8 FreeClip utility.
