If I go to Norton, I may install Panda URL Filter, because Yahoo search is better than Ask search.

I'm fairly certain that the same thing has been happening to me, but I just didn't connect the dots, so to speak. I didn't think that it might be ClearCloud (and as was the case with you, CC wasn't indicating anything was being blocked). I had even emailed the webmaster of the site, and he was looking into it, but this afternoon (upon reading the news in this thread that CC was closing up shop), I bumped Norton DNS back up to primary position and BINGO! I was once again connecting to the problematic site. :thumb:

The web installer makes browsing experience a living hell, unfortunately. This version would be worth having, perhaps. Let's hope BitDefender works this issue.

    -edit-

Chrome's extension doesn't allow for great protection, though. Except for phishing protection (early warning ratings). I believe I remember someone mentioning the website would first load and only then would be blocked. It has to do with Chrome's extensions limitations.

:thumb: I had even called the company yesterday and notified them that I thought there was an issue with their website (and they of course said that they had not received any reports of problems. Now I know why.)

I have it, but it doesn't replace addressbar mistakes with search results.

Well running NortonDNS here with no issues (Not that I had any last time I tried it) I just (and still do) dislike the block page. Something I hopefully will barely see.

You won't see me installing any of these "Linkscanner" addons, I'd much rather rely on DNS. Which means I don't need to run code locally which also needs to keep updating itself. Also which could pose additional issues down the line, such as slowed browsing, or issues with browser updates, or system patches.

What a shame. I really liked ClearCloud. Just switched to Norton DNS.

For almost problem free two years I've been using Internet Guide by DynDNS which (Shhhhhh. Big Secret!) just happens to provide the DNS infrastructure for Norton. About 60 selectable content filters managed by Barracuda Networks if you want 'em as well as you can build your own black/white lists.

Before I started using CC, I actually looked at DynDNS first, and even registered, but couldn't make it to work. It would always ask me to subscribe to it, when I already had.

I may give it a new try now. It sounds like the perfect time. ;)

By the way, the blacklist/whitelist, does it allow the use of wildcards?

In other words, they didn't want anything to be free. Goodbye to it and all other DNS services that are mostly crap. Norton was crap too, but I hear it at least has a proceed option now. I sure as heck wasn't gonna sit around and wait for some person to email me and say "Okay, you can go to your website now".

    DNS services are a joke,period.

Never seen one that was worthwhile using.
