sync is sync, webrtc is chat, mozilla is kicking it out - widevine is for multimedia (Widevine Content Decryption Module)
i use the version with these features, chromium is not annoying when i dont use sync.

@redline - this is caused by chromium, not the launcher (centbrowser same -> tree -> centbrowser). i have similar with opera although i use my own portable starter for both. chrlauncher is a bad joke with poor documentation, sorry.
it makes no difference for usage if deleted or not. but for sure , this is also not my understanding of being "portable"

PS chromium works smoother than opera but it has some nifties i dont understand yet, eg new tab from external url aso. chrome in general has poor support for tabbing - after all that years. at least who had a look to Photon the firefox theme with v57 - lol - mozillas new mockup looks like opera - square tabs, sidebar (on the right, not left) and other similarities. slinger curse

@Brummelchen - Yeah, I figured that, thanks. I referred to chrlauncher as a whole portable chromium package. The AluisioASG launcher doesn't allow Chromium to create those registry entries, but as you said, it doesn't make a difference to the operation of the program itself.

One other thing I found that may be mostly irrelevant is that the sync versions work properly with Flash when it's installed, while the nosync versions always crash.

i dont like programs portableapps.com. although they have invented a nice system for portables based on nsis the method behind lacks of special handling. thats why i invented my own portable starter years ago which are unique for each program. thats an example for using sandboxie.
nevertheless the chrlauncher is ok, not fine, but ok - it do as expected

the code is free to take and to improve, unfortunately i dont write in C(++)

Just to state it more accurately, the build of Chromium used in the AluisioASG package doesn't write to the registry.

My main browser is Firefox, but I would like to have standalone versions of other browsers for occasional testing purposes, hence my testing of various builds of Chromium.

    no way for your idea
you have to deal with some launcher or you write your own or have a special compiled version.

loaded that build - its buggy - can not set german as language, is reset to english immediately.

i have made some experience when using different builds. v57 was Nik, v60 was chromium authors. i used a copy of my profile (v5:cool: on v60, all fine. until i copied whole chromium stuff on my other pc - v58 was fine, the profile from v60 was close to gone, only chromium settings and the dirty rest of all. a had to try some back and forth to understand, that the build from chromium authors is more chrome and NOT really portable with its super-mac while the builds from Nik and RobRich are portable and dont drop any extension. for those who wants to try chromium be aware which version you load.

while now on v60 it seems faster than v57, sites are faster loaded and shown,

i dont know why but i cant manage to get a profile copy working on same computer but different windows. with early v57 possible but not later. its also not possible to mix up newer browser and older profiles, i will lose my extensions although not deleted as common.

I'm not seeing version 59 there yet either. Generally it takes Nik approximately 24 hours after official release until he has all builds up.

Does Chromium not phones home to Google....and exposing your IP address?

From what I know Chromium and Chromium-based browsers does phone home....to Google.... when you start the browser(and maybe in-between browsing). The reason being to check for the updates of the Chrome extensions. Even if you do not have any Chrome extension installed it still phones home to Google and that's because Chromium belongs to Google. It's just open-source vs Chrome which is close-source

So is Chromium and Chromium-based browsers considered as privacy-focused browsers?

Use a firewall which shows remote addresses.

Starts your Chromium or Chromium-based browser. Check the remote addresses. You'll see that they'll bring you to Google Inc.

    My fault.
Yes, you are right. v59 is not yet released.
I have focused on this line:

be careful when you want to use the "The Chromium Authors" releases. those are more close to chrome as you like. i prefer Nik or Robrich. i dont know exactly about differences, but both are compatible to my profile. the authors release moans each startup about missing google features. running build 3120 Nik now. Nik and Robrich builds use CFG which extends ASLR and DEP.

stable v59 is currently for osx only.

thinking of switching to this build because google have started force automated browser restarts, as a workaround on chrome I have had to set google update service to only check for updates on manual request. (previously chrome would not auto restart).

The showstopper seems to be that the binaries are not signed which makes my SRP config harder.

launch ProcessHacker - doubleclick on chrome.exe - lookout for Mitigation policies - now click on "Details"
