I have the latest production 64-bit builds of Chrome and Edge (Chromium version) browsers installed and I find that Chrome consistently launches 2 to 3 times faster than does Edge! So I'm wondering if any others here have noticed this (and why that is)?
I use the Lightning Reopen extension on both and I do not notice any difference in their launching. Both load instantly. You need to set Chrome or Edge to allow the browser to continue running background apps when the browser is closed.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually quite satisfied with Chrome's launching speed without having it always open in the background (not so much with Edge!). So I guess I'll stick with Chrome as my default browser.
Who care if it launches 0.X second faster? You just launch a browser and use it. According to a benchmark I've seen, surprisingly Edge Chromium is slightly faster than Chrome with lower latency but I will only use Google Chrome mainly for the integration with my phone I like having all my bookmarks/passwords synced.
Well I care - because Edge takes more than 3 seconds longer to load than Chrome on my laptop (not 0.x sec.)!
oh I see. I just tried on my system (which is in my sig) and both load instantly. I have disabled the feature for them to run in the background as well but I tweak my OS to the max, no telemetry, no background apps, and using NOD32
They are both fast on my machine although Chrome is slightly faster, I'm talking about fractions of a second...
