The exclusivity is wearing off. If we start getting into the 40s I may have to go back to IE with the other 2 people still using it. :argh:

From what I can gather only one person still actually uses IE on the internet. The other user has been offline since 2016 but hasn't noticed yet.

We just hit 40, xxJackxx. I downloaded FF again just two days ago after reading a few articles about MV3. I am trying to get out from under Google. So far the new FF is great but I don't know if I can ever really de-Google-ize myself. I have an Android phone, a chromecast on my Samsung TV, I am signed into You Tube and I use Waze in my car. Google probably knows all they want to know about me no matter which browser I use.

Not sure on umatrix but uBlockOrigin is been performing to expectations on this end. Of course coupled alongside with the javascript killer NOSCRIPT, no issues at all for many months here with Chrome Stable Update releases.

Like I said before, if uBO won't eventually work on Chrome I think a lot of people may look for an alternative browser. I find AdBlock Pro on Safari works well enough. Although I have the paid version. But the web's surfable with it. I'd hate to lose uBO on Chrome (and its clones), I've been using it almost right from the start.

Even if uBO was diminished somewhat it might still be good enough for most general browsing.

Losing other Chrome extensions will also be detrimental. I'd miss Tampermonkey and Cookie Notice Blocker straight away.

I'm voting for 'de-Googleisation' to become a recognised noun. :argh:

Fair enough, didn't mean for it to get out of hand. :)
    @Jimmy9190
This topic alone is enough for me to avoid Chrome. I figure if they push this enough someone will come up with an extension or workaround, or people will just stop using Chrome. You can't get rid of Google entirely but if they persist with this any effort to get rid of them as much as possible is worth it. There are probably options like AdGuard that run separate from the browser that will work as well.

I can't really avoid Chrome on my Chromebook. Although if this v3 thing turns out to be that bad I will seriously consider a small notebook running Ubuntu. Unless I can figure out how to run Linux apps on the Chromebook.

I don't want to wander off-topic but I recall the panic when Firefox extensions changed to the WebExtensions API. I believe this was driven primarily by Google as well. In the end nothing really changed for the end user.

Maybe all will be well on the interweb.

As an ex Google a holic (had the first Nexus one and most nexus/pixel devices)... a few years ago... I have been moving away where possible for privacy concerns...
I ditched chrome for brave, ditched Google search for brave search, ditched Google DNS for unbound (recursive DNSsec server on my pi), ditched Google calendar and Google mail for proton calendar/mail.
Any saved passwords are now in keepass...
Google photos ... I moved to host myself In Synology photos.
Google drive I host myself in Synology drive...
Now Googles still in my life as I have an old pixel 4.... Google maps is going to be a hard one to shake, it's just so stupidly good! And the Integration of Google contacts... Still need a fix for that...
Ublock origin I would t miss... And don't use any more since brave does such a good job... And even then I run pihole to get anything it misses and monitor all network DNS queries.

Slowly but surely I'll be Google free one day! Maps and contacts once I have a better solution I will be able to delete my Google account, that will be a happy day!

I de-Microsofted myself quite a while ago. Not so sure I can totally de-Google myself without considerable effort. Although I ran SRWare Iron for a long time before I ever used Chrome. Start Page and Ecosia are my most used search engines. I have Gmail but use Proton now primarily. I don't really use Chrome much on Ubuntu or macOS.
