Chrome takes up 610MB on my HDD, which I found surprising. Is there anyway to reduce it? What number are you seeing for Firefox?

Big part of it is whole installer stored at c:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\53.0.2785.89\Installer\ and previous version stored at c:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\52.0.2743.116\ (if you have latest version installed). I never delete those files and folders since I have enough space on my disk.

Wife only has a 32GB SSD which has filled up with Windows 10. Wish I hadn't bought the HP Stream as 32GB is inadequate for somebody that just browses, emails and skypes, mostly. I'll have a look at Firefox to see if that saves space.

Is that a value you found in the system control panel > programs > uninstall?

that is a combined value of all current used data included cache, persistent setup for repair and more. and in most cases not for real. for firefox it would also be too much. firefox installation here takes 100meg and my profile another 100meg - without any extension it count <40meg. to add the cache but that is cleared from time to time (by firefox itself).

current opera final take 123meg install and my profile another 128meg. chrome has to be similar. at least opera, firefox or chrome are not too different.

feel free to use the chrome portable if you dont suffer space.

My Chrome installation is also 610 MB in size so it's not OP's cache. Installer stored in program folder is 203 MB in size and previous version takes another 200 MB. Chromium OTOH takes only 164 MB.

This is another thing that I don't like about Chromium based browsers. Vivaldi takes up 316MB of disk space on my system. But Firefox only uses 88MB, so that's clearly the better choice.

    holy ****.

32gb ssd is not much as my windows covers close to that without games and some other stuff which is share between several windows OS. (including firefox and profiles)

concerning chrome it should be possible to delete setup files to free another 400gb.

here is a post i found

    Iangh,

Strange, my wife only browses, emails and Skypes and her tablet only has 16 GB of used space. It has Win10 1607 that's been upgraded incrementally from the original Win8. She also has Office and several mapping apps. Firefox too. Sounds like your wife's tablet needs a good "clean-up".
