    If chkdsk says system clean

Is there anything to be gained by running chkdsk /r, after it reports clean?

Not likely, especially if we are talking about a recent version of Windows.

I never do. But I own SpinRite which I trust more than chkdsk /r.

I do think running SFC /scannow is worthwhile here and there. I recently ran it on what I thought was a machine that had no issues and it found something corrupt/missing.

SFC /scannow - seems to correct some things, & can't or does not fix, some things it finds
