    Hi!

I was going to scan a file with TDS-3 that I downloaded today and when I ran TDS-3, the windows installer started, and after a few seconds an error message saying: "This MSI must be launched through setup". I couldn't start TDS-3 at all. So I downloaded a new installer file to install it again. I did an MD5 checksum on the file I downloaded and it was 2505f2322d6d617a9a988531f630405b not 77FEF737C73DD0B041BA025AAD1A1BA7 as it should be. So!!? What do I do? Am I being directed to a false download page or has the checksum changed? The checksum was tested with 2 different MD5 checksums programs.

    What browser were you using?

    The DCS download link: http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=download

The MD5: 77FEF737C73DD0B041BA025AAD1A1BA7 (same as yours quote)

Here is my MD% checksum after DL from above link using CryptoSuite :)

The file <C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\tds3setup.exe> has the following Checksum(s)

    MD5 - 77FEF737C73DD0B041BA025AAD1A1BA7

I am not 100% sure of this but if you use certain browsers corruption can occur.

Try downloading again using IE especially if you were using another browser.

    Yep,

    I agree with Pilli:

I have saved my TDS-3 (Final version) setup file.
I calculated its MD5 HASH with CryptoSuite and DigestIT2003 and I've got the same checksum:

    77fef737c73dd0b041ba025aad1a1ba7 tds3setup.exe

    WAIT

From which server did you download it ?

I just downloaded it again to check it again !!!

Downloaded from the Dutch server at Surfnet:
    tucows.surfnet.nl

    2505f2322d6d617a9a988531f630405b tds3setup.exe

It's clear that there is something wrong here.

    I'll check a few others.
Let others do that also and post with the server, I would suggest.

I came to the site http://download.tucows.com/perl/window95.html?dltarget=download&Target=/adnload/195501_75630.html when I pressed download and have tested from both swedish and America (Tuscon) server with the same md5 result = 2505f2322d6d617a9a988531f630405b

    I am using IE 6

Hm, Tucows seems to make changes, i don't know if that is bigger or smaller then the original from the DCS sites.
But thousands get them from the sites where DCS uploaded the file themselves so it should be ok.

    But now your installer problem!
Could it be a windows installer file itself has to be updated? Strange if so.
Normally you should just click the TDS setup exe or zip which should help you install the program without any trouble, reboot (every windows version should do, even if not prompted for it) and click the TDS icon to start the show!
Hard to imagine you would miss certain files........

Looks like there is a problem :(

I just checked the MD5 of the last version before final just in case there were some still around and other servers but it does not correspond with with the errors that aLTo & Jan are showing:

The file <C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\TDS321setup.exe> has the following Checksum(s)

    MD5 - 3BF5F75FD556DD4FF5EBA4994D09379F

Hopefully DCS will sort it out shortly :)

OK, sofar checked on 3 completely diffirent countries.

However: All were tucows sites !

    Questions:

    1.
Can we find a non-tucows server, and what does such one give?

    2.
Did DiamondCS make a change in the setup file ?
    If so:
    - which one?
    - shouldn't the MD5 HASH in that case be changed on the DCS site?

I do not have a problem installing the program. I had it installed a couple of weeks ago but today it wouldn't work. Instead the windows installer started. That's why I wanted to make sure I got the correct file.

    1. Still looking :)
    2. The DCS one is correct & has not changed as far as I can tell after checking the MD5 of final that is in my BU folder.

    Heya Alan :)

    1.
It could be an error on the Tucows sites.

    2.
Yep, my archive-file of TDS-3 Final install-file gives the same as yours.
It could be that DCS has changed to another install-file (without changing TDS-3 Final); only DCS could tell us ;)

Edit: karma cookies for you and Alto :D

Could only imagine tucows or other d/l sites adding a small info file about the actual file, which could enhance the whole d/l with a few bytes, as it's consistent on all their sites it seems.
