    Having enabled all protection, I discover that eight items appear to disable themselves. This has only occurred recently.

    The culprits are as follows-
    Blazefind.com; Flingstone.com; Slotch.com; Searchmiracle.com; o5p.com;
    mt-download.com; Searchcrashbarcash.com and XXXtoolbar.com.

    Has anyone any ideas how the above managed to disable the protection function?

    By chance are those items part of Spywareblasters Restricted Sites protection and if so are you using a program called Adware filter by Integrated Search Logistics ?

    If the above is true....Adware filter is reporting False postives against valid Spywareblaster registry entries concerning it's Restricted Sites protection.

    If by chance this is not related to Adware filter....Please list all Security\Privacy software you are using since this is almost always an indication of a cleaning program mistakenly finding valid entries.

    Thanks Bubba-software used are-

    Ad-aware SE personal; Spybot search; Spycatcher; Spyware blaster; Microsoft Anti-spyware.

    Microsoft, Spyware balster and Spybot run in the background, the others are used as a manually activated scan.

    I have recently loaded Spycatcher.

    Does this help?

    Yes it does in deed....and are your results like what's shown in post # 2 of the below link ?

    If so....they are indeed False positives by Spycatcher of valid Spywareblaster entries.

    This link---> Restricted sites not...!!

    Yes the results are as shown. Is there anything that can be done, or is a case of manually adjusting the files?

    As a user of Spycathcer you can bring it to their attention concerning their Fasle positives and hope they eventually correct this issue since this is their problem not Spywareblasters.

    As a user of Spywareblaster about all I can recommend is to remember that after you run certain scan engines there may be certain entries unchecked because of the action taken by certain scanners. If and when it occurs again don't hesitate to start a thread concerning this matter.

    Regards,
    Bubba

    Also, if you have updated a Hosts file, IE-SPYAD or update SpyBot's immunize it sometimes changes the protections in SpywareBlaster. I just reenable them. If the 8 items become "unchecked" after updating one of the above (or one of the programs you are using) it could be the problem. If not pursue further with Bubba's suggestions.

    After thinking about it you are correct. It is either IE-SPYAD and/or Spybot that causes some of the protected items in SpywareBlaster to become "unchecked." Anyhow just wanted to point that out as a possibility.
