When a PC is setup you are asked to place in a name. The
person no longers uses the PC and we want to change the
name. In "Control Panel\Users Acounts" you can change a
users name, HOWEVER, the origional user still remains
    hidden within the system.

When I send a "3M Post-it Note" by email the origional
user is still displayed. When I open my Canon Zoom-
browser", the origional user is still displayed.

    How do I change this?

    Cheers.

    Blackspear,

Just guessing here, but were these programs installed when that user account was still active?

Yes, all programs still there, and we want to continue with them.

    Cheers.

I'm not familiar with the programs you mentioned, but you could check if you can change the username in the program itself. Often Help > Info or Help > Registration
Otherwise you'd have to perform a search for the old username in the registry and change all the entries you find into the new username. Backup your registry before changing it manually!!

I thought as much (change the registry), I was just hoping there was a way within Windows to make the change. It shouldn't be this difficult.

Oh well, you get that :(

    Cheers.

    Hello,

    Win2K/XP :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
    Win98 :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ Microsoft/ Windows/ CurrentVersion

    Modify RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization.
