I just don't like the latest version of CCleaner, so I got rid of it an hour ago. I'm currently giving the portable version of Wise Disk Cleaner a try. I do like what I have seen so far.
You can do this w/Background Apps and turning them off in the Settings App. The Windows ones at least. I wouldn't want anything even potentially messing with my security apps. Is CC smart enough to see the differences? Luckily I don't have this crap, excuse me, "feature" in my v. 5.92.9652. Just the basic settings, that's sufficient.
Here's an interesting one for you, I have the portable version of the latest CCleaner. I deleted the following files: CCleanerDU.dll CCleanerPerformanceOptimizer.dll CCleanerPerformanceOptimizerService.exe CCleanerReactivator.dll CCleanerReactivator.exe I then launched CCleaner again and the entire drivers update tab disappeared! Less bloat
I also had the portable version of the latest CCleaner. I deleted the following app: CCleaner Portable I then launched Wise Disk Cleaner X! Less bloat
It seems to me that CCleaner cleans up better (example. the temporary files of chrome-based browsers' metrics) and with some settings unchecked by default (the preview caches), if the user doesn't want to delete something that could be useful to keep instead. Obviously a good setting eliminates these inconveniences but not all are able to do it. But that's just my humble opinion. The others follow their own way.
I see that Metrics Temp Files are cleaned in Chrome and Edge Chrome by default. Could this cause any problems.
Can you explain why? Th. P.S. If it were possible I would disable BrowserMetric, but that is no longer possible: https://nerdschalk.com/how-to-disable-browsermetric-in-microsoft-edge/ So daily cleaning is welcome.
