Thanks, I didn't realize that I could find it in this thread. My fault, sorry.

So, in this case, seven days after the standard release.

Yeah, considering the last hiccup with the full version it's worth to wait for the slim one. Seven days is more than enough to get on bugs which could slip into the full installer.

This is what I am referring to. I see the same on three Win10 x64 machines, not every time I click the Task Bar icon but often.

It's a week or so since the full installer was released so I have looked for its slim build but to no avail. Is it possible that the slim has not been pushed out yet?

    Hi Pegas,
The slim build is not yet released. The "slimmers" among us have to wait some more.

OK. Thanks for letting me know. You know, I'm a newbee as regards the slim builds. :) After troubles with the past build I have decided to resign on the full installer and rather wait for the slims just to be on the safe side of the river ... hopefully.

    @pegas @FanJ

Frankly I don't know but I don't use portable software. Maybe hence that I'm not used to have installed many applications and to change them often. You can find less than 10 apps (excluding Win 10 and MS Office) on my machines. It looks like I'm pretty conservative, probably part of my nature. :-D

Yup, i have the same issue as well, Sometimes it freezes with the windows section to be empty.and the only solution to shut it down is to hit the close button until i see the "Do you want to end this process" window.

is it me or the quality of CCleaner has gone down hill recently?

I don't see any difference. I used to do slim, but switched to portable. For me, the closer to zero footprint, the better.

Exactly same here I see no difference at all. I love portables now.

No install/deinstall needed, can be placed anywhere, no leftovers, etc. :thumb:

I believe the portable requires a UAC prompt on opening CCleaner, because it doesn't install a service.

No service installed, it simply utilizes Task Scheduler to bypass UAC prompt for installed version.

It uses Task Scheduler shortcuts? How does it bypass UAC for CCleaner installers?

I'm just referring to running CCleaner itself after it's been installed and as long as the user chooses the option to skip UAC alerts in the advanced settings. Once that setting is checked, it creates a scheduled task which is called upon anytime CCleaner is run which elevates without UAC prompt. The scheduled task runs at highest privilege and runs "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" $(Arg0) although could be different if installed elsewhere.

However this bypass UAC option is very problematic on a standard user account and CCleaner will fail to run at all.

I just kill CCleaner in Task manager, then re-open it.
