I can't update nod32, i have zonealarm although have resorted to turning it off to get an update with no change in results.
I always get the error message 'file not found' or 'cannot locate server' the server is www.nod32.com.
I have a dial up connection and the proxy server box is unchecked.
I have had this problem with a previous nod32 i ahve installed, i re-installed see if that would fix problem, it didn't.
I don't know if you need this info, but maybe it will help.

    NOD32 system information
    Version:         1.217 (20020221)
    Installed on:      08/15/2002
    Virus database build:   2202
    Environment version:   1.039
    Last Update attempt:   <Unknown>

    Operating system information
    Platform:   Windows 98
    Version:   4.10.2222 A
    Common controls version: 5.81.4704

    Diagnostics information
    Base module build:   2108

<08/27/02 19:27:00> Control Center: NOD32 Control Center executed as application

I hope someone can help me, thanks, wanda.

    Hi wanda, and welcome ;)

Its not a server issue: the nod32.com server is up and running. You might give www.eset.sk a try, but as I see it, this probably will not function either.

Any info on [/i]which file[/i] isn't found, when getting that error message? If I understand correctly, this error message doesn't pop up all the time?

Finally: are you running a proxy?

    regards.

If I may jump in, Wanda first posted at the Lavasoft board, and I advised her to post here, as she'd previously posted at the Nod32 forum at Becky's, but to no avail.

Wanda, I understand you also tried disabling your firewall before updating, and that didn't change a thing, am I right?

    Tony,

    Sure!

We might have a corrupted download at hand. Uninstalling NOD32, grabbing a fresh copy from www.nod32.com - new install would be a good start.

In case the problem persists after this, feel free to drop me an email, wanda (webmaster@wilders.org), and we will contact Eset.

    regards.
