    Re: patience, riiiiight....

What version are you using (v3 or v4)? Could you please PM me your username so that I can check your license? I assume that registered users should be able to download updates fine now.

Marcos, I tried messaging but the forum says the private messaging system is currently unavailable.

No, I've had issues with other licenses under the antivirus v3.x and now with a new license and fresh installs of v4.x on multiple machines in different locations.

I've also read many other posts from people who have the same problem: signature database is out of date, updates don't download, but after failed update the program says "update of the virus signature database is not necessary".

I have that message on my newly installed v4 and right under it says "Update has not been run yet".

Velma you'll just have to live with it. Eset is rife with incompetency.

jclark33 - I'm not ready to give up yet. I think it's still a good product, when it functions properly. If you didn't also think so then you wouldn't still be putting up with it, would you?

I'm coming to the end of my rope in terms of sanity though. :doubt:

An update on my experiences with this problem:
I have 2 notebook computers and they both have the NOD32 stated above. They are the paid versions. Yesterday after deleting the update cache, resarting, and manually updating this notebook updated fine and this morning went to 3996 and now 3997 automatically. It has Windows Vista Home Premium. My other notebook has Windows XP Home it wouldn't update yesterday either but this morning it updated automatically to 3996 without clearing the update cache. I haven't tried it since but I assume it's working ok now. :thumb:

Velma-I have already spent the money purchasing corporate licenses. I've had it for two years I gave these fools a chance.

I was on 3999 until I upgraded to build 417 earlier today. I am now back to 3948 and the taskbar icon duly turned orange.

Unfortunately, subsequent attempts to update definirions fail, although, after a reboot, the icon is now green. Obviously I am going to have to take my own advice and have patience!!

Patience has been rewarded! I'm now at 4000 although it took an update cache clearance and the 18007KB update to get there (a long drawn out process on dialup). I installed 417 'over the top' (if gugarci's question was addressed to me).

The mystery of the icon being green (despite my signatures being stuck at 19th March) seems to be explained by the fact that one of my earlier attempts at updating 417 resulted in a modules update which was, apparently, enough to turn off the orange indicator - a minor glitch perhaps?

THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE YET TO BE ADDRESSED. THEY KEEP BLAMING LARGE UPDATE FILES HAVING TROUBLE PROPAGATING THOUGH THEIR SERVERS.

THIS IS A B.S. LIE AND THEY KNOW IT.

EVEN IF IT WAS THE TRUTH, STOP COMING OUT WITH NEW APP VERSIONS AND FIX YOUR UPDATE SYSTEM.

IF THE SIZE OF THE UPDATE FILE IS THE PROBLEM AS THEY CLAIM, DOES IT NOT MAKE SENSE TO EITHER WAIT TILL THE FILE IS PUSHED OUT TO ALL UPDATE SERVERS AND THEN BEFORE ITS MADE LIVE?

OR STOP RELEASING HUGE UPDATE SINCE YOUR WEAK INFRASTRUCTURE CANNOT HANDLE THE LOAD.

OR JUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON AND LOOSE YOUR BIGGER CUSTOMERS.

    WHERE ARE THE MODS?

What message do you get when you run a manual update? Also please PM me your username so that I can verify your license and make sure there's no problem with it.
