Attempting to explore an image, I received error message: "Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from the image archive." What does this mean? What should I do now?

Continuing this inquiry: When I made a second attempt, the drop down list displayed the relevant drive without a + sign. Thus, I can't designate a partition, can't try again. Restarting computer restores the listing, but just closing and reopening the program does not.

  3. I'll assume you, like me, are using TI 8. I get this every time. The little
clock never finishes going round and round. I press Ctrl-Alt-Del. I
_look_carefully_ at the task that is running. If it's _not_ MSGSERV, I
cancel and go on waiting, then try again. When it _is_ MSGSERV (not
responding), I end that task and no other. I then find that the drive
letter was successfully assigned, and the hangup was just in the
message telling me so. Exploration then works fine. (All of the above
is in a Windows 98SE environment.)

    Hello Charlie R,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

First of all please make sure that you use the latest build (2289) of Acronis True Image 9.0. In order to get access to updates you should register account on our site (or just log in if you have already created it) and then register your copy of the product.

Then if the problem remains please verify the image archive by means of the Check Image tool and let me know the result. Also please create the screenshot of the latest window of the image mounting wizard (with the summary of the operation) and submit a request for technical support. Please attach the screenshot and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
