    Good song-Beefcarver!!

But, this is a game.....where you have to figure out which song the lyrics that are posted are from.

Then you get to post lyrics and we'll find your song.

(Kind of an Irish theme going in honor of St. Pat's)

(just PM me if ya have questions ;) )

    Finnegan's Wake

Carey told on Skin-the-Goat, O'Donnell got him on the boat. He wished he'd never been afloat, the dirty skite.
It wasn't very sensible to tell on the Invincibles, They stuck up for their principles, day and night, by goin' up to Monto Monto, Monto. Be goin up to Monto Langeroo, to you

This is all I can find for the title :doubt:

    Monto
    ....................

    In a very fine craft,
She was rigged fore and aft
And oh, how the wild winds drove her

    The Irish Rover

As I walked down through Glasgow City
With a heavy heavy heart and an achin' pain
So many men all courtin' Nancy
I'll not leave that lass again.

    Nancy Whiskey
    .........................
One summer evening drunk to hell
    I sat there nearly lifeless.
And old man in the corner sang
    where the water lilies grow.

    A Pair of Brown Eyes

Oh the sun it shines out like a jewel, On the lovely hills of Clare, As I strolled along with my sweet lass, One evening at the fair, Her eyes they shone like silver streams,

Oh my lovely rose of Clare
    .............................

Oh please ne'er forget me though waves now lie o'er me
I was once young and pretty and my spirit ran free
But destiny tore me from country and loved ones
And from the new land I was never to see.

    An Emigrant's Daughter

And as I went home on Tuesday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a coat behind the door where my old coat should be
Well I called me wife and I said to her will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that coat behind the door where my old coat should be

    Seven Drunken Nights
    .........................
In the rusty iron chains we sighed for our wains
As our good wives we left in sorrow.
As the mainsails unfurled our curses we hurled
On the Engllsh and thoughts of tomorrow.

The Mouse on the Barroom Floor
Some Guinness was spilled on the barroom floor
when the pub was shut for the night.
Out of his hole crept a wee brown mouse
and stood in the pale moonlight.
He lapped up the frothy brew from the floor,
then back on his haunches he sat.
And all night long you could hear him roar,
    'Bring on the goddam cat!'

    Remembered Joy
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all...
I could not stay another day,
    To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
    A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.
My life's been full, I've savoured much:
Good times, good friends, a loved-one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief—
Don't shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.

    Back Home In Derry

Then I awakened to a spring day breakin'
On the sons and daughters of Alba's waters
And the flag they're flyin' is the rampant lion

    TIOCFAIDH AR LA

Well I spate in me fist and I picked up me stick
And up the coach road like a deer I did skip
For I care not for bailiff landlord or auld Nick
And sang like a lark in the morning

    The Bold Tenant Farmer
    ...................

    Grasp the pleasure that's flying,
    For oh, not Orpheus' strain
Could keep sweet hours from dying,
Or charm them to life again.

Quick! We Have But a Second

Swing to left swing to the right,
The excise men will dance all night,
Drinkin' up the tay till the broad daylight
    In the hills of Connemara

    In the hills of Connemara

    It sounds more like Jaaaayzus)

I'm a buxom fine widow, I live in a spot
In Dublin, they call it the Coombe.
Me shops and me stalls are laid out on the street,
And me palace consists of one room.
I sell apples and oranges, nuts and sweet peas,
    Bananas and sugar stick sweet.
On a Saturday night I sell second-hand clothes,
From the floor of me stall in the street.

All of I have of some of these is the songwriter's name.

Stole this card from SOME one who sent it to me, Happy St. Pat's Day, Ronjor!! :D

Lannigan's Ball - the Rovers sing it, that's the trouble with Irish songs, EVERY one sings them!

Once I was happy and had a good wife
I had enough money to last me for life
Then I met with a gal and we went on a spree
She taught me smokin' and drinkin' whiskee

Have to make these harder for ya! :D

Cigarettes, Whiskey and Wild Wild Women

They would walk down the street in the evenin', and for years I would see them go by
And their love that was more than the clothes that they wore could be seen in the gleam of their eye.
As a kid they would take me for candy and I'd love to go taggin' along,
We'd walk holding hands to the corner And the old man would sing her his song.

Jud Strunk - Daisy a day
    ...........................

We left them there, the years went by, we didn't care if they lived or died
Now we know they are innocent and we wait for those in
Government, to give them back their dignity, and release them unconditionally.

    I Don't Know

Hand in hand when our life was May,
Hand in hand when our hair is gray,
    Shadow and sun for everyone
    As the years roll on;
