Can I install Dr.Web as on-demand only?

    yes...

    choose only the scanner and the updater when you do a custom install...

    As sick0 has stated just select a CUSTOM install.

    BUT IMHO, it is better as a primary AV ;)

    However, if you already have a different primary scanner why not save some money and use CureIT, which uses the Dr Web engine but does not need to be installed on your computer.

    You either;

    1. Just download full package of CureIt each time to get updates as Dr Web release a daily CureIT with the latest defs.

    2. Or manually download defs and place them in Cure It! folder. See post 17 here.

    3. Use RejZoR's batch-file.
