Is there anyone in this forum that could take a website (html) and correct it to the required W3C Html 4.01 required standards without losing my design etc?

It would probably need things like stylesheets, css as well as re-coding (or so people tell me) because the W3C validator does NOT like some of my elements at all. :'( Not a small job. I am no site designer; what I have done was more chance than by design and i just can't get my silly head around the W3C Html 4.01 requirements at all no matter how hard I try and I have been trying for over 6 months now!

Anyway, just thought I would ask; my Mum always said there was no harm in asking!

I can be contacted directly, if anyone is interested, at <removed to protect your privacy. Pieter> Credits for any work provided will be provided on web site.

    Thanks in advance

    Kool Kiwi :D

I don't know what could be wrong, on my system it is loading perfect, all buttons, links, scrollers work fine?
The images load well, all is there, the gif animations work fast, so please explain what you think is not well and on which page?

BTW Blaze, i don't have a website anymore, and never built any page or it was just a little thing with a msagent script included :) but never anything to stay on internet at all anymore. I have so many ideas i just can't choose what i would like to put on the net. Maybe ever some day......

its just her top header where the links are it kinda missing the botom it look like some one cut the bottom with scisores to closely .

where it says privacy, spechial places towards the bottom looks like some one cut a little to much

Strange, on my browser IE 6.0 it really is perfect, nothing cut away. Screen resolution 800x600 maybe that is part of it?

I would never make a black/red site brbrbr black yellow if you mean the delphi forum i have (helpcomputer)
Or do you mean that very old website which disappeared 9/11 as the server was in that same building? and due to whatever i forgot was not backed up on any system so lost completely? that was build by others for me and indeed had colorings i would never use myself. But buttons? i remember a java navigation thingy, something i wouldn't use myself either, as most people disable java .. you seem to have good memory! :)

Hi there Mr. Blaze and Jooske,

THANK YOU for your help - it IS valued believe me! In reference to my upper navigation: I have done some altering re cells and tables sizes height and widthwise of this area and it looks fine to me at 800 x 600 with IE6+.

What browser and res were you using Mr. Blaze that you seemed to get a squashed up navigation area? -The site URL is http://www.otakounzonline.com/ap/

In reference to my original question on W3C HTML 4.01 - if you scroll to the base of this Forum page - right corner you will see this Forum is Validated W3C ... Click on the W3C HTML 4.01 button to see what it is all about.

Thanks again folks - all critiques are very welcome - this is how one learns!

right corner where, on which page?
i don't see that info on none of your pages at all.
does not show up for normal users it seems.
or post a little screenshot where you mean.
I jsut have normal pages like said before not any problem, now the only problem you're pointing to a thing i don't see nowhere.
    Your site search engine says:
"Sorry, there are no matches for W3C on this site"
so what are you talking about?

    Hi

Sorry to Dollefie - for not having made myself more clear in previous post.

Mr. Blaze - Yeppers, it DOES look easy until you find that the W3C Validator does not like FrontPage coding and even if you correct your pages using DreamWeaver MX the Validator find so many items it will not accept that life becomes impossible. We DO NEED an auto converter - just pop in the pages, click the button and 'whammo' - all done.

The W3C stuff is NOT absolutely necessary of course and as it is huge learning curve (my being 'dumb' on html matters), a massive job plus my patience with the continual errors the Validator produces not being at a high level, I wonder if it is all worth the stress.

However, the W3C subject here was worthwhile as it enabled me through your comments to correct some web site stuff I was unaware of which all helps my site to function more efficiently, so I thank you again.

    Kool Kiwi,

Are you still concerned about getting your pages WC3 compliant?

I can help you some. You can correct 1/3 rd or maybe more of your problems by making some corrections in your image tags.

    1) Taking the align"center" out of the image descriptions. You don't need it anyway. You either have the <td ailign"center"> or you have a <p align"center">

    2) Change the absolute middle tag to "middle". Non of these changes should affect the way your web site looks.

I only looked at the page that you link to from here. I'm sure these basic mistakes are repeated through out your website.

I'm not an expert by any means. I have spent the last 6 months or so getting all 250 pages of my website compliant.

A style sheet will help correct a few of your problems, and that is not difficult. All text and links on my site are controlled by a single style sheet. That will also speed up download time for the visitor. A style sheet makes your actual page smaller in size.

I'm guessing but your site was probably done with a WYSIWYG editor such as front page. I have Front Page and Dreamweaver. WYS is not what you always get.
Front Page is notorious for adding extra and unnecessary code. Dreamweaver is not as bad.

In the end I have finally learned to use a text editor. Upload the file to see what it looks like in a browser.

Anyway if your interested, I will help you what I can.

    Mr Blaze,

I will help you what I can. I'm not an expert and my time is limited into how much research I can put into something if its something I'm not going to use. But if I can I will help you.
