    Hi guys;

    I was trying to burn dvd-video through Nero v.7. But when I pressed burn button after few seconds it gave me error that "Burn process failed at 4x (5,540 KB/s)". I had inserted the correct DVD-R cd in the dvd burner. I wasted 1 cd just because of this error, I can't use it anymore.....I have this dvd burner " LG GSA-4167B 16X DVD+-RW 16X Dual Layer Writer IDE 2MB Black OEM With Software". Is it my dvd-burner or something else...I have windows XP 1800+ cpu with 1GB memory, and saphire 9550 128mb video card....etc.....

    Is the video you are trying to burn copy protected? Some times that will make errors. Have you tried to burn anything else? like data.

    Make sure you disable any unneccessary background program, especially Antivirus program, Antivirus is the main problem causing burning CD or DVD failed.

    Nero 7 is rubbish!.

    I have used Nero 6 for 3 years burning thousands of DVD(+-)R's. in those three years i only had one time nero brought up that message.

    In the one week of me trying nero 7. I had 4 of those occur, and 4 wasted disks.

    I took it off my machine and am now using the tremendous, fabulous VSO CopyToDVD. This is the program to use for burning. It also has non of the rubbish nero has, it has everything you need. Its easier to use, and i just love it.

    Nero for the forseable future will not be going back on my machine.

    But if you want to stick with Nero, i would go back to 6.6018. It only came out a few weeks ago and it runs circles around the buggy as hell v7

    I don't think so, because i use latest version of nero, which is Nero v7.0.1.4b, and I don't getting any error on burning DVD and CD from first release of Nero.
    What I think is you run any background application, please close unuse application, and the most causing the burning fail is Antivirus program, please close it before burning CD or DVD.

    My System:-
    - Intel Centrino 1.5GHz
    - 256 + 512 - 64(video shared) MB DDR RAM
    - Liteon DVD burner

    Try a trial of Nero 6 and see if it happens. If it does happen again, reinstall Nero 7, then Click on Start--->Run and type 'services.msc' in the box (without the quotes). Now, in the window you see, browse around till you find 'IMAPI CD-Burning COM services' or something like that. Right click on the entry and click 'properties'. In the drop-down menu named 'startup type', select 'disabled'.

    This fixed the issue for some people, though its rather a workaround than a fix. The real issue is some sort of incompatibility.

    Nero Burning ROM and Nero Express will automatically create a log file at the end of every write attempt. (The log file will be created even if the burning process has failed).

    The default folder where this log file is saved depends on whether you were using Nero Burning ROM or NeroExpress.
    For -> Nero Burning ROM: C:\Programs\Ahead\Nero
    For -> NeroExpress: C:\Programs\Ahead\NeroExpress

    The name of this log file is
    NeroHistory.log

    The ten last burning processes are saved in this log file.
    If possible, please specify the date and the time of the burning process in question so I and Nero can examine it specifically.

    Please attach the log here, thanks...
