I am not sure...I don't even know of the "sliced red ball". It escapes me for the moment. :D

BullGuard uses Agnitum for it's firewall.

Neither can I. At least try Roboscan before paying for BullGuard, unless you prefer the better firewall included with BullGuard.

Thank God I downloaded the mutt b4 I paid up. Sorry guys, it doesn't give me no warm fuzzy feeling. I don't like the GUI etc.

An AV is not about GUI!! Do you really open it and start looking at its GUI?

I don't know about you but I install an AV, configure a few settings if needed, close it, forget about it.

It will auto update, catch viruses, and do its thing.

If you want some shiny GUI then are many others out there that will definitely give you nice colorful colors but have questionable detection rates, or performance impact on the system. Let alone the price factor.

    just my 2 cents

    kthxbye

It's a mater of opinion. I have ditched a number of antiviruses because they were not very configurable. I also do the same if they have a noticable impact of performance. I'd much rather have no protection than a reduction in performance.

Sorry BR, but really the GUI, the layout, the design, the concept, all didn't excite me. And i'm using EAM so that's 2 engines, BD's & A2. Though for myself, I love my SBoxiE & DWall. With them all I need really is something like AvastFree AV stripped down to the file guard. But I enjoy window shopping.

oh well man, at least you have found an AV that suits you. One AV definitely cannot suit all tastes :)

Correct. I said 'All I need..." and not "all i want......". I love switchin' & tweakin'. Should run a thread on 'prettiest GUIs'. I like Kaspersky's.

Yeah Kaspersky and BitDefender have nice GUIs bro.

too bad I have a Kaspersky Internet Security license that I dare not use anymore due to how slow my highly specced system performs after having it installed (check sig)

And Bitdefender just brings havoc and random errors to my OS such as random crashes especially while watching movies.

    *sorry, back on topic*

I thank you for your tipping: therefore, I could buy the Bullguard internet Security 2013 in bargain for another 2 years.

The sliced red ball engine is BD. But the only 'green & white pill' I can think of is ESET. So what's the answer?

or ALYac, as it is known outside the US. But IMO BullGuard's support and overall capability is better than ALYac.

    I have uninstalled bullguard sadly.:'(
The constant nag screen at boot up was a pain and there were problems with the firewall and security centre.
Good product but ive had to uninstall.:argh:

Probably work out cheaper maybe in the long run to buy a 4-5 year license etc.
Prices like everything in life go up or down and avast might be twice the price next year.
If a good deal comes along then grab it as it may not come along again.:D

Hard to say that about Alyac when you don't speak Korean. You will have to use the name "Roboscan" on this one. ;)

Yeah I guess if you need your hand held BG would be the better option. Me I like to fend for myself. And of course Wilders informal supports kicks all others. :D

Very much analogous to using a MVNO vs. a carrier for cellular. Instead of paying $90 & up for cell service from VZW. I choose to pay $40 (<$38 with discounts) to MVNO Page Plus Cellular. Same cell network, $50 a month less. But no hand holding. :'( LOL

If this deal is still valid Friday, I will grab this opportunity and renew my license twice!. Too good of a deal to pass up.

Sportsfan, how are you finding the combination of BullGuard and MBAM Pro? Any conflicts that you have noticed?
