I have noticed that Malwarebytes Browser Guard (MBG) causes sites to open noticeably a bit slower than does Emsisoft Browser Security (EBS). Q1- a)Has anyone else had experience with both of these extensions? b)If so, did you notice any difference in speed of opening websites? Q2- Have there ever been any tests of the relative effectiveness of Browser security apps such as MBG & EBS?
https://malwaretips.com/threads/upd...sion-comparison-malwares-and-phishings.80915/ From what I remember reading in general Malwarebytes extension is considered good but heavy and prone to false positives.
@Azure Phoenix -- Yes, that confirms my experience with MBG. How about the Emsisoft extension: have you read anything about that?
I asked over there was the general opinion of emsisioft extension. https://malwaretips.com/threads/upd...ison-malwares-and-phishings.80915/post-838136 Protecton-wise it appears some feel it is lacking compared to others. But the advantage I have read from Emsisoft blog is that the extension doesn't compromise your privacy.
@Azure Phoenix -- Thanks! Because of your posts, I have discovered BitDefender TrafficLight. It is very configurable and seems light. Because it's from BitDefender, it should be equal to or better than MBG & EBS. I like it!!!
You might look at: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/trend-micro-toolbar/ohhcpmplhhiiaoiddkfboafbhiknefdf TrafficLight & Trend's Browser both, do not block ads, Duckduckgo privacy blocks ads. Probably redundant protection, but fiddling around. My fav uBlock orgin, sause a paid site can't log in. Tried MBAM browser guard, slows stuff down
Please note that most of these features work only if you have already installed Trend Micro security software to protect the computer.
For anyone using Trafficlight please be aware that it transmits every site you visit in clear text. In other words privacy doesn't exist if your using this extension.

@bjm_ I did not see 'written' where Trends Browser Guard features were/are dependent, on having there, AV also installed. I may have missed it, It does work (I do not have Trends AV). If what you say is indeed fact, that would be highly misleading, of Trend. @digmor crusher Thanks! That's distributing, so Bitdefender gathers all that info, & sells to 3rd party, or has the capability to do so?
