Apparently Brave is testing out a new way to deliver ads.

But those that want to return to old system notifications you can do the following

“For anybody whose Brave Ads were working fine as System Notifications, and would like to continue using the System Notification route, you can go to brave://flags/, then search for (and disable) brave-ads-custom-notifications.”

Unfortunately Brave Search still doesn't give locally relevant results.

Change the location settings on https://search.brave.com/ and save cookies in Brave/Settings/.../"Sites that can always use cookies".

You might also have to do a search after changing your location to add it to Brave/Settings/.../Manage search engines. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

I just tried that in Firefox and performed the same search. Sure enough, the results were much more locally relevant.

    Thanks for the heads-up. :thumb:

 I know I'm slow at times but I only just realised if you go to brave://adblock you can add extra filters, which means I can disable some filters within uBO. :thumb:

Google search still works for me, plus it gives local results without having to save any cookies.

    I've re-installed Brave also.
I was pleasantly supprised that the DNS leak through a VPN extension/Proxy (a Browser extension) was fixed.:thumb:
    But...
    There are two "unhappy" moments.
    1. I cannot totally disable the THIRD PARTY cookies.:thumbd:
What's more, the Brave developers are arguing that it's OK, you just need to worry about cross-site cookies.o_O

    2. Browser Audit site shows one "critical" issue.:thumbd:
Firefox and Osiris don't have any critical issues.

Yeah, I found on one machine that I have three sites set to always allow third party cookies and there is no way to remove those sites. A workaround was to add those sites to never accept cookies. Pretty disappointing that the developers don't see this anything to be concerned about.

Can't blame them for wanting to make a profit, but having to pay for a "privacy orientated" search engine kind of defeats the purpose, reminds me of the Epic Privacy Browser's paid search feature.

If possible, can you say which sites had cookies allowed?

    Sure:
    • [*.]github.com
    • [*.]secureage.com
    • secureaplus.secureage.com
From what I've read it has something to do with disabling shields on a site.

Sites that can always use cookies.PNG

Clicking the trash can icon does nothing.
