I bought the program, but after reading problems...I am afraid to load it, as I need my computer for work Monday Am.

The first thing is how do I know if I have uninstalled all antivirus software on my computer...not really sure what I have, because someone else did it for me.

    Any tips befor I continue?

I think it should be fine, my problem is that I forgot ot uninstall the older AV program before I installed NOD32. This caused massive confliction problems and now I am currently downloading Ubuntu Linux for that computer. Someone with more experience might ask you more questions but I am not so professional. :S

If you check with your previous antivirus vendor, they should have instructions on their web site or available from their technical support department explaining how to remove all traces of their software from your computer. After doing so, you should have a trouble-free installation of ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

Just go into Control Panel and load the Security Center. This will tell you what antivirus, if any, is currently installed.

Then, if you do have antivirus installed, go into Control Panel and load Add/Remove Programs for Windows XP or Programs and Features in Vista. Look for your antivirus, click on it and choose Uninstall.

As for all the NOD32 problems, any software that uses forums like these has lists of numerous possible issues for you to read. For those without open forums, take a look at the knowledge bases. You'll be surprised! Every piece of software can have problems given particular circumstances.

I for one have found NOD32 to be less problematic than any other antivirus I've used.

Just to make you feel better

I've had almost EVERY antivirus installed on my computer at some point, eset installs fine, some won't install, some leave traces, AVG likes to leave traces(kaspersky won't install if you don't use a 'cleaner' after running avg uninstaller) but eset should be fine

just goto add/remove programs and uninstall the antivirus ones ;)

that or eset should warn you :)
