The Phenom 9600+ Quad Core Runs like a Ferrari :cautious: I've had it some 3 Months and its Like a Quadrillion times faster than other AMD's I've had. Also the 9600+ is 64bit too :cautious: The only downside I suppose, (If there is one) is I cant find one Available faster than 2.3Ghz

btw bigc73542 are you using that TLB fix? It's so intresting that AMD can sell broken CPU's.

There is nothing broken here. Everything is working just fine.

    info from "enthuiast magazine"
    B3 Phenom Fixes TLB

We have had AMD's new Phenom "B3" silicon in-house for a while now and we have confirmed that the TLB Erratum is not detected by motherboard's with the BIOS workaround. In our opinion this has never been an issue for the enthusiast as the erratum does not impact desktop computer systems and is almost impossible to duplicate in even server class hardware. Since the TLB erratum was identified in November of 2007, we have yet to see any of the websites splashing it across their pages repeatedly actually duplicate and confirm the erratum in-house.

None of the benchmarks we have ever shown to our readers have included the TLB performance penalties. None of the motherboards we have ever suggested to our readers have ever not had the ability to turn off the TLB workarounds. Hence, we see all of this as a non-issue on the desktop side of things. As for the server market, this is incredibly good news for AMD as it means the Phenom just got faster not only in terms of clock speed, but also in terms of performance per clock.

BigC, I thought it would be interesting to post my Intel Q6600 temps. Of course it depends on how good the cooling is.

This Acer doesn't have but 3 fans--PSU, case exhaust, and CPU. The CPU's heatsink looks to be about a 1 1/4 inch thick aluminum fin. Then it has what I call a big intake funnel sucking air in from the vent on the left side of the case. It is very quiet surprisingly. What also helps is that these newer processors use less voltages than their predecessors.

The ducting they are useing seems to keep the noise to a very low level. I was afraid it was going to sound like a large box fan:oops: But to my surprise it is very quiet.:D

    Hi guys
My computer isn't that old yet, but isn't it sick with all these high temperatures, because I'm very sick at 45*C and 34*C is too cold.

    AMD (939) ATX Athlon 4400+ 64Bit X2 Dual-Core Processor

    a. Current System Temp : 34°C = 93°F
    b. Current CPU Temp... : 45°C = 113°F

    1. System Fan Speed..... : 2678 RPM
    2. CPU Fan Speed........ : 1240 RPM
    3. Northbridge Fan Speed : 7584 RPM

    Why don't I have a Southbridge Fan ?

    @BigC
Good luck with your supercomputer. If it wasn't hardware, I would be jealous. :)

Your processor is based on the Manchester/Toledo core, which is an "old" design fabbed at 90 nm. The 65 nm node provides cooler processors.
Your motherboard's readings may also be wrong.
IIRC, your motherboard is based on a nForce 4 chipset, which has the north and southbridges integrated in a single chip. Also, most SB are cooled passively (i.e. only a heatsink w/o fan)

Welcome to the 21st century Master Yoda. LOL ;)

I just replaced a 2.4 GHz 512 MB system with a 1.8 GHz Duo processor 2 GB system and the boot up time is FANTASTIC. :D :thumb:

It would be a long story, I have worked at five different professions and retired from all of them. Not counting the Military service and self employment. It has been a long intestering and very enjoyable ride :thumb: And the very best part is that I still feel twenty years old. And act accordingly:D :D I love hard rock, oldies and most other types of music. I love going 160 miles an hour on my Yamaha Seca Turbo Motorcycle. I am building a street rocket useing a Toyota Celica Supra as a base vehicle to start with. I love Ham radio and computers. well that doesn't even get started but I think you will get the general Idea of what I do and enjoy.
