I've been saying this for a long time. As a rule, if Michaelsoft can't be honest or totally candid about what these updates actually are, I don't install them.

I won't mind installing 5851 if after a week it does not show up as causing people problems. It is optional so i could get along without it possibly.

No corporate responsibility if they're rich enough they can be unpunished scum.

I see them also. I've been following the 2952664 several times now by reading their "More information" posts towards the end. There they list lots of details. And over the last several (three? four?) version numbers change. So the KB number is the same but what they'll push changes. Also they're adding files to the list. What all this is for, I don't know, but thought I'd suggest here people look at \system32 file versions vs those constantly changing M$ lists.

I'm guessing their future will more likely be unpunished bankrupt scum the way they are alienating their customer base lately.

I have not read about any problems with the 5851 update so it might be good to install, but I don't know if i really need it.

Installed that update, had a slight delay with a black screen after reboot, but then all was fine.

It was listed in updates again after the reboot but when I clicked to install it it said.. no need, you already have it and it disappeared.

Today MS sent out the usual KB2310138 MSE definitions update - which is an optional update that auto downloads. Windows Update indicates that 1.203.1799.0 failed to install. however when I open MSE/about it is shown as the installed version. I do know if the initial update size was 174MB but that is what the MS Security Client used to install this update. It is not very reassuring if WU does not know if an update is a success or a failure.

Edit: Just found out that WU sent the entire definitions database for MSE today (171MB) for this update.

Not likely for at least 20-50 years yet. They have over $100 billion in cash. Specially if W10 is the last OS. Then they can probably fire 90% of their workforce & still make the stockholders happy.

Wow, 100 billion and they still can't release decent patches!

I think if they wanted to they could. But this makes them look more bumbling rather than nefarious.

    Too early no coffee.

So which are the bleeping M$ W10 forceupdate/nagware ones THIS month? Affecting W7 users like myself who are kicking & screaming. Thanks.

I couldn't install the updates. They would install, reboot, but couldn't finish installing, causing it to reboot 3 times or so before finally getting to the desktop. I searched online and seen that KB3081424 was causing problems. Anyone else?
