Check Disk Management for harddisk0, partition3. It's probably your Win10 partition. Note, the MSR partition doesn't appear in Disk Management. So you won't see partition2.

Having the Windows RE in the Windows partition is fine. You don't need a separate RE partition. All OK.

Anyone having problem with sfc /scannow on 24H2 .1882? It repairs over and over and..., after every restart and new run. And this on a fresh install.

On .1742 all was ok, but not with .1882

Same here. Failed on initial install and I left it alone. After a later system restart, it downloaded again and installed fine.

Interesting it wouldn't let me do it the steps you said I had to do step 2 first and step 1 second.

Excellent. That's where winre.wim should be when the RE is enabled. If you disable the RE with (don't do it)...

    reagentc /disable

    winre.wim is moved to...

    C:\Windows\System32\Recovery

I wonder why we were offered it.
    Do you use Macrium?

    Triple Helix,

If you wake from a nightmare where a message tells you to create a RE partition, this is one method. But I'd keep what you already have.

    In Windows...
    reagentc /disable

    This moves winre.wim to C:\Windows\System32\Recovery

Using BootIt UEFI, resize the Win10 partition 1000 MiB smaller. Create a 1000 MiB NTFS partition in this space. Change the GUID Partition Type from Normal Data to Microsoft Recovery. Name the partition RE.

    In Windows...
    reagentc /enable

This moves winre.wim to the RE partition. The RE partition takes priority over C:\Recovery\WindowsRE.

After doing today's Windows updates, I find News and Interests running in the background in my Task manager.

I have had the feature disabled by right clicking Task bar, and clicking to disconnect. ever since the feature was introduced some time ago. The feature never bothered me but now, after doing the updates, it is running in the background. I would like to disable this annoyance completely if it can be done. Does anyone know how to? My W10 is Home.

Same here. It was disabled in Personalization/Taskbar settings before the update. It is still listed as off but was running in Task manager when I looked just now after reading your post.

I just searched Google, other people are reporting this annoyance. Some, as far back as about from a week ago. Perhaps what brought the annoyance was an Edge update, and not WU. I opened Edge today, to apply updates after WU. I had not open Edge probably in about 2 or 3 weeks so maybe Edge is what is causing this issue. Probably everyone or just about everyone is seeing the same 7 processes. Perhaps uninstalling WebView2 takes care of this problem but I don't know how safe that is. And also, it is likely MS re-installs it right back, so no gain.

It was ok with Windows 11 Pro, 23H2, Build 22631.4249
Problems started after the upgrade to Windows 11 Pro, 24H2, Build 26100.1882

Uh oh! Windows 11’s big 2024 Update is blue screening for some users
Microsoft confirms that Windows 11 24H2 is triggering Blue Screens of Death in certain cases.

No problem with the Oct. CU on W10 Home installed from Windows Catalog. However, after a restart but before I installed any updates, Windows Copilot appeared out of nowhere, pinned to the task bar. I uninstalled it without any apparent ill effects, and it didn't reappear after the Oct. updates.

I haven't tried it but I haven't found that command to actually fix anything in years. Back in the XP days if it found errors it would ask me to insert the OS disk and it would copy files and often resolve the issue. Lately it says it fixed things and changes nothing or says it can't fix it and in either case points me to a log file that is too long to waste time on in most cases. Even DISM lately doesn't seem to fix anything. Especially if you have any WMI corruption.

I make sure I have regular disk images as the only way I have been able to fix corruption these days is to either restore an image or reinstall the OS. An over the top reinstall in most cases works fine while saving my other files and programs. If running SFC or DISM does anything for you lately by all means run them but I am exposed to many PCs on a daily basis and it hasn't resolved any issues for me in a very long time.

    It shows as suspended on my Win 10 22H2 build. Notice what its child processes are;
