    Did you ever figure out what caused it?

    It only happened this morning and I guess it's just everything scrambling to be first in line after the Win Updates of yesterday.

    It might be better not to turn off the comp next time so that all processes settle down.

    Anyone having weird things occurring during last Tuesday Win 10 updating should verify they were completely installed;

    If that were me I'd download the latest ISO and install it as an upgrade.

    0x80070005 means defective windows files or defective registry. so you need to repair from scratch. and uninstall and clean up any other security software which is not defender.

    two machines with win11, the half year patch and another smaller one to label it 23H2. no issues, nothing.

    Wasn't it today the "4th week of the month" Tuesday (optional) patch?

    The Bitlocker part is fair warning but after all of the issues with it over the years I'm surprised anyone uses it. If I want encryption I'll find a more reliable 3rd party tool.

    I did the KB5031455 Preview for Win 11, and I did the KB5031445 Preview for Win 10.

    They both installed and seem to be running okay so far.

    They both took a few minutes longer to download and install than usual.

    The Win10 updates seemed a little quicker than the last two or three updates on my machines.

    I've updated Windows 11 22H2 and Office 2019 without noticeable problems. I'm staying on 22H2 for the time being.

    No go for me. Had to run Aveyo's TPM bypass patch and the Windows 11 23h2 iso. to upgrade on my unsupported mobile workstation.
