Had a Windows Server 2012 R2 spontaneously reboot while installing today's updates. Not real happy about it but it seems ok.

No more Windows 11? I must have missed that conversation.

Updated Windows 10 at work and Windows 11 at home. No issues to report as of yet.

No issues here as well on Win10... I forgot to mention for the record, I cleaned 3.2 GB of leftover files.

I was losing about 1 GB of disk space every few days and couldn't recover anything. The last straw was when I deleted a 2 GB game and the space was not returned to the total free space. I couldn't know if it was just a reporting error or the space was actually gone.

Right now, I'm considering to reinstall Windows 11--I otherwise enjoyed having it.

There are issues with Windows Updates with servers this month. I'd hold off if anyone here is a sysadmin like myself.

I was about to suggest the same. My DC was spontaneously rebooting repeatedly. I had to uninstall the updates. I am hoping that resolved it but I'm not calling it good until I get through the day. I don't want to have to restore the previous day's backup. I had to create a new employee yesterday. The profile IDs wouldn't match if I had to recreate on the server end. I should have waited but as I was doing maintenance on it yesterday anyway I proceeded to do it all. A mistake I won't make again.

Microsoft can't be testing these patches. I'll probably be waiting a week in the future. I can let some things go as mistakes, but this one is should not have slipped through.

Well I'm sure they do, just not possible for all the billions of different computer configurations that exist. I very rarely have any issues on my 10 year old desktop, almost non-existent for me.

Maybe to a point but I bet this one crashes any Domain Controller. The same update on a non-DC seems ok.

That is a shame. From what I understand, it is just for DC's that are having the issue correct?

That's what I'm seeing. Fortunately it seems ok after rolling back the updates.

Have you tried running chkdsk to see if there are some errors which need to be fixed?

My W10 21H2 is a regular Home edition. I did January's Windows updates yesterday, all appears to have gone well.

Hi, roger_m--the disk space issue simply went away upon re-installing Windows 10. I'm hazarding a guess that it was some kind of interaction between that and the latest firmware update for my boot drive--but fundamentally, I don't know what it was.

About three weeks ago I ran Magician and got this--the drive is in good shape with 99% life left. But it never hurts to rule stuff out, so thanks for the suggestion. chkdsk was good.

Edit: same here, bo elam. Lately, updates for Home have been very hassle-free. :)
