Interesting. A DVD holds 4,700,000,000 bytes.

My IS0 is 4,798,984,192 bytes. I haven't tried to burn it but it is too large for a DVD.

Working no problem. When asked to uninstall it I chose to uninstall all including the ini file. I did not reboot, I said I would do it later as I knew 1809 would reboot a few times anyway :)

On install of 5.27.1 beta Sandboxie recognised my lifetime licence without me having to do anything. I just had to press activate and set up sbie how I usually do.

What times are you guys getting with using an ISO?

My main computer is slower than my test computer. Update on main computer was 37 minutes. Update on test computer was 24 minutes. Fresh install on test computer was 15 minutes.

I have a few Asus Vivo-Tabs with Atom processors. Judging by previous experience the update will take around four hours. Update not done yet.

    Thanks @stapp.

On my more customised machine, I may try uninstalling first and keeping the .ini file ...

Edit: Check for updates presents nothing here yet (South Africa), on two machines.

One computer took 70 minutes to upgrade and another took nearly five hours. In the case of the second computer, which has only a Core 2 Duo CPU, it's possible that the CPU was being throttled, as whenever it restarted, I got a BIOS message, saying that it was not getting enough power from the charger and that it may run slower. So maybe it should have been quicker.

On a third computer, the new build fails to install.

Now I can see lots of warnings in my event viewer:

    Event ID 1534
Profile notification of event Load for component {B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB} failed, error code is See Tracelogging for error details.
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service

    Load
    {B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB}
    See Tracelogging for error details

    Unload
    {B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB}
    See Tracelogging for error details

    I'm not alone, it seems:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/9kw7um/event_1534_after_recent_update/

What can be done about the 1534 warnings in event viewer?

OK, installed fine. Preparation and downloading went pretty fast, 15 min or so. Installing was lengthy though. It took almost a hour, during it I got a message that the Intelligent storage has been applied, installation likely needed more space to be available, strange because I checked the C:\ space after the message and there was still 14 GB free. Anyway reboots and applying of updates completed the upgrade within another 5 min. Fast reboot stayed disabled but system restore had to be re-enabled. So far no issues observed. So, all in all, it was a seamless upgrade but of a very decent lasting.

Have you tried the suggestion from the first link you posted? Post #7 user "Eagle 51". It actually makes a lot of sense as it removes the leftover registry references to a non-existing service B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB which is tiledatamodelsvc. This service was apparently present in 1803 (don't ask me, I don't use the 'tiles') but was removed in this update, hopefully MS found a better way of handling tiles. Both TDL keys (32 and 64 bit) contain a reference to tiledatamodelsvc. I'll just paste the fix here for convenience -
    Code:
    1. Open Regedit and navigate to the following two keys
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification\
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileNotification
    2. Under ProfileNotification check if you have the TDL key
    3. Export each TDL key
    4. Delete each TDL key
    5. Reboot PC
Removing those 2 registry keys stops the 1534 Application warning for good. As noted in the link, you will need to elevate to TrustedInstaller to remove them.

This update also introduces new 10016 DCOM Errors in System logs (launch permissions regarding security center, but haven't yet looked deeper).

Also, note that if you have 'Background Apps' disabled in privacy settings (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\BackgroundAccessApplications -> Migrate DWORD value), toast notifications will be broken (balloon in tray shows the number of notifications but there is nothing in action center).

Wonder if this has something to do with the Notifications setting which I do have enabled in 1803?

@Seer Thank you very much for your help. I enountered even more problems after the 1809 update, so I reinstalled it and started from scratch. No problems so far, but I'm pretty sure that that I will definitely see some errors and warnings in event viewer sooner or later. Let's wait and see ...
Again, thank you very much for your useful post. Much appreciated.:thumb:

Reinstalling Windows 1809 did not help. Apart from the 1534 warnings mentioned above, I'm also getting plenty of errors in event viewer now:

Event ID 504: Completing a failed IOCTL request.
Event ID 507: Completing a failed non-ReadWrite SCSI SRB request

    Problem solved. Thanks.

    Hello,

It seems the Windows 10 version 1809 upgrade causes issues with NVTERP (on my system at least)...
For those that have already upgraded or are planning to, and use NVTERP, you may want to read my post here: New Antiexecutable: NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro # 7299

The errors related to Event IDs 504 and 507 are gone now (related to my cardreaders; problem now fixed). However, I still don't know how to get rid of the 1534 warnings. Seer did provide an excellent fix, but I don't know what's meant by "you will need to elevate to TrustedInstaller". Hm... can anybody translate this into layman English? What exactly needs to be done? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Problem solved. Thank you.

Hm, the (1809 x64 English) ISO downloaded via MediaCreationTool1809.exe was only 3.7 GB and hence did fit on a DVD...

Why would there be about 1 GB difference?

It all depends on the compression. It can be the same contents, but more compressed.

Could not wait for Windows to offer it, and did the upgrade from the website "Download Windows 10". It was relatively fast (70 minutes) and flawless (I had previously uninstalled Avira Pro, Sandboxie, and Shadow Defender as a precaution). Everything seems to be fine, and as usual, the OS seems slightly faster...

Edit: After performing "Disk Cleanup" to delete the old Windows folder, the folder "Downloads" was also cleared of all its contents, I don't remember having such an entry in Disk Cleanup. Not a problem as I have always multiple backups...

This was due to settings in Storage>Storage Sense>Change how we free up storage space automatically. Also be aware that Disk Cleanup is being deprecated by MS and will disappear eventually as Storage Sense takes its place. I did a major cleanup with Storage Sense & Disk Cleanup because neither did the whole job . I guess that Storage Sense will be improved as part of the changes. Also used Bleachbit as a supplement. It worked well as my old laptop is faster now and ready for the update when it is offered here.

Thanks, it is good to know about Storage Sense, I've just checked and there are time options to delete the 'Download folder'. I am pretty sure that the entry 'Downloads' has been added to Disk Cleanup in version 1809, as with older versions it never happened.

    found a bug:

when on SUA, if the UAC prompt appears, sometimes the "other choices" option, where you choose PIN or password, isn't available.

    Anyone encountered that bug?

@Bertazzone Thanks for the hint. That new Storage Sense is great, in fact it is a new GUI for the old Disk Cleanup but much more user friendly. No need to use Disk Cleanup anymore.

Yes, I should have linked this thread, sorry.
So you're saying you did a fresh install from an ISO and 1534 was still there?

I had Background Apps disabled globally with a GlobalUserDisabled key (not the Migrated key, my bad in previous post) on 1803 and notifications worked fine. As I upgraded to 1809 I had to remove the global key and disable running in the background on a per application basis for notifications to work. All's well, notifications working and apps are blocked from running.
