No. I seem to be preternaturally lucky as Windows Updates have always gone smoothly for me, for many years now.

    Win 10 KB4074588

Machine 1: WU, fast (a few minutes), and smooth as silk.
Machine 2: WU first did not detect, then failed - again, like last month,. MS Catalog Delta Update 'this update not applicable to your computer' (?), Cumulative Update worked.
Machine 3: WU, slow (old machine), at 100% 'Undoing changes'. Same as last month also. Will try MS Catalog download / install (that worked last month).*

MS monthly updates really are a PIA. :(:'(

    Edit: * Done.

Two Windows 7 x64 machines updated with no problem.
Yesterday, I installed the February 13 KB4074598 Rollup for Windows 7, and also the monthly KB890830 MSRT.
Also I installed the optional January 24 KB4074906 update for .NET Framework 4.7.1, that is meant to fix a potential issue caused by the initial release of the January 9 update for .NET Framework.
And also I installed the 'recommended' February 13 KB4076492 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework, in case this one should have any relevance to clean up any remaining messiness of the January 9 update for .NET Framework.
    All looks well, no borking.

I agree, I have not got any real problems yet, but this is ridiculous, the very fact that we have to check with one another about how successful our updates are is a sign of how unreliable the whole process is.

In addition to what I posted in reply # 3835 :
I posted there that on Win 7 64-bit I installed:
Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4074587)
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4074736)

    In the meanwhile I installed:
The .NET Framework update KB4076492 (previous .NET Framework updates I had already installed)
    Office 2010 updates.

    So far no problems.

Ok have one of my users at work complaining about slowness with IE and the system in general after yesterday's updates. Anyone else notice anything like this.

Hardware: Fujitsu Lifebook u757 with 24GB of RAM
    Windows 10 1709 x64 Enterprise.

    Thanks!

IE11 running great on my Windows 10 1709 x64 Home build. Note: I have an older AMD processor w/8GB memory and never had any performance issues related to Meldown/Spectre patches.

My boot times however are increasing after each on of these recent cumulative updates though.

Decided to try a "Repair Install" via an In-Place Upgrade first.

That was no success: downgraded from 16299.192 to 16299.125 and did not provide any updates after that (even though the AV compatibility registry key was present).

Note that the February updates require the same registry key as the January updates.

I got the exact same error message in Firefox when I tried to get the IE cumulative update, KB4074736 from the catalog. Had to use Chrome.

FWIW, I have noticed that a few people are having trouble installing this update, it keeps failing. However, I had no problem with it on W7/32.

I don’t see any Office (365) patches either...

    What’s the latest for that?

If your Eset is updated, you don't have to check or create that registry key.

That seems (and I do emphasize the word "seems") not in all cases to happen. What and why exactly happened to cause the problem in certain circumstances, is not clear to me. So I have to be very cautious. Some users seem to have a problem with getting MS updates on Win 10 while running Eset. I mentioned it yesterday/today in the Eset thread. And there is an ongoing discussion at the Eset forum:
    https://forum.eset.com/topic/14624-is-eset-blocking-kb4058258-windows-10-16299214/?page=3
Again, it is not clear to me what and why happened. I can only point to that Eset forum thread.

Checked the PC’s of family members. 1 PC had the February cumulative update; 2 others not.

It’s not offered on those two and Secunia PSI reports that the PC’s are up-to-date.

Any ideas what might be causing this?
