boottime defrag do or not?

    A tool called TuneXP does offer this feature, so should I use it or not and I wonder if it will work in the first place? Currently my system boot s up in about 1 minute and 10 seconds not bad, but a 20 second gain, would be welcome. :cool:

    Btw, two tweaks are related to defragging bootfiles, so I´m a bit confused:

    the only way Id get that much would be to remove my RAID and SCSI cards :p
    and turn off my preboot defrag

    but that ap does look like it has some useful tweaks, and making sure your ntldr, boot.ini, ntoskrnl.exe (and the rest of the list you see load in the safe mode screen) arent fragmented and are adjacent to the MBR certainly would cut off some time

    but its quite old and the download links are busted
    Ive heard of it, but never considered trying to run it on W2K :p

    but I might look up the manual tweaks based on that list

    if you havent done a boottime defrag ever and then use the boottime defrag in diskeepr 2007 pro how much speed increse am i likely to see?
    by never done one i mean since i got my pc two years ago.

    I guess it depends on how much is on your start up menu.

    -10 > -12% Id guess
    after you turn it off about 0%

    I use PageDefrag from Sysinternals. Works very well.
