PEtoUSB formats the flashdrive, makes it bootable and copies the BartPE files assuming all the correct options are selected.

It needs to know the directory for the BartPE files (Source Path to Build BartPE/WinPE files), check the Enable File Copy checkbox and check the Enable Disk Format checkbox. All of these options are shown in the graphic.

While on travel, I had occasion to require the use of a USB flash media boot device with TI 10.4942. TI created the boot drive, but it would not work on my Thinkpad T60.

Then I read more and found the reason. Flash memory boot devices must be in FAT format! So, I reformatted the device and recreated the TI Bootable Device.

This time it worked perfectly so I was able to replace my DVD drive with a second HDD using the Ultrabay adapter and easily clone my main HDD to a spare/Reserve HDD

The key is the flash memory device format. If it is NTFS it will never work.

However, when the newly created drive is used as a replacement, it always requires a minor repair due to a boot error caused by PARTITION=NOT FOUND

I keep mentioning this but it always gets ignored. I hope Version 11 will fix this Vista bug. It doesn't happen in XP - just Vista.

Thanks for providing some further information, of greatest interest to IBM/Lenovo Txx users.

In my case, with a T42p, even formatting as FAT / FAT 16/ FAT16X won't work for AMB to make a properly bootable USB drive, hence the BART PE route. It is good to see that it works with a T60; I believe I had similar experiences with my wife's T60 computer.
