I have purchased and downloaded Disk Director from Acronics e-shop.
Willing to add a new partition to my HD I used Disk Director suite 10 but infortunatly did not find the way to get out from OS Selector. OS selector saw two unknown OS when only Vista is on my HD. therefore using the tool disable OS selector I thought I could come back to the general menue. Obviously I shouldn't have. I have now a black screen with the following white message

«Windows boot manager has experienced a problem.
    File:\Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc0000098
Info: the windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid OS entry
You can try to recover the system with the tools listed in the system recovery option menu"

Has any body faced that issue and how has he managed to sort it out?

My computer is a DELL XPS
    OS Vista Home premium

    Many thanks for your help.

You could try either a Vista Repair from the Vista DVD or uninstalling OSS using the DD/OSS CD. Note that uninstalling OSS via the CD will require that the OSS programs were included on the CD when you used Media Builder to create it.

I have a Vista CD supplied with my computer which should comply with your first suggestion. Regarding the second one what do you mean by DD/OSS CD?
Thank you for your prompt support

Usually, when someone refers to the DD CD they mean the bootable CD that contains DD. However, this CD can also contain the OSS programs to allow OSS to be installed, uninstalled, reactivated, etc.

When you create the DD CD using the Acronis Media Building program, you have to check the boxes to include the OSS programs on the CD. Otherwise, you'll just get the default (which usually doesn't include the OSS programs).

By DD/OSS CD, I mean a DD CD that includes the OSS programs.

    Thank you for your answer.
I have finally solved the issue by formating my hard disk.
This evening Acronis support (three days after my request for suppport) told me that Disk Director was used to facing problems with OEM Vista versions but their developpers was working hard to solve that matter. To be honest they also gave me a nice procedure in order to try solving the problem. I can post it if some are interested in but in french.
Of course there is no warning in Acronis advertisement regarding this issue.
Fortunatetly they do not manufacture drugs, cars or air crafts therefore they can sell unreliable products without too much risk of being prosecuted for harms they may do.
Thanks again to Acronis for time and money lost!!!!

I would think that fixing the detection problem would be fairly simple. After all, before the "Vista support" was added, OSS could boot Vista just fine by tricking it by copying XP's booting files onto the partition. I don't understand what's so complicated about detecting Vista's files.

I would be interested in knowing what Acronis Support offered as a procedure to solve the problem. If you don't want to post it, send me a PM. French is fine.

here is the answer of Acronis support

    Merci."

I am not an expert, I bought Acronis Disk Director thinking naively that this soft was as efficient as Partition Magic with XP but it was a big big mistake. Reading the procedure, given above, by Acronis support in a attempt to solve the issue shows two thing
this soft does not comply with OEM Vista a big part of the home computers market,
Acronis knows the fact, do not warm its prospects but sells anyway!!

No new information there. The "fix" is just to get your system booting again. Doing an automatic Vista repair on an OEM system may not even get it setup like it was originally due to how some systems are configured and what the repair features does (it can get confused very easily).
