I have Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro (SP2 and all current security updates), ZAPRO (ver 5.5062.011), NAV 2006, CounterSpy, SpywareBlaster, and BoClean (ver 4.20.002). Up until this morning, able to manually download updates (click on Check for Update) for BoClean without any difficulty. This morning keep getting Error: Not connected, Check for connections or Firewall. I shutdown ZAPRo and turned on the MS Firewall, still no luck. Shutdown CounterSpy and SpywareBlaster, still no luck. Shutdown the DSL connection and tried the modem connection, still received the same error as mentioned. Decided to uninstall and reinstall BoClean, but still no luck.

I should note that there have not been any changes to my computer in the last few days. Any help would be very much appreciated. I should note that I went to the BoClean web site to see if I could manually find the update file that use to be available in the past, but could not find that either. Would very much appreciate any help. Sam

It's not your system nor connection. There is a thread at DSRL security forum on the same subject. The guess by a poster there was that the BOClean server was not working.

    Hey Sam,

One of the owners of BOclean has recently commented in the thread @ the BBR Forums that Marti alluded to.

    PLEASE NOTE! FACILITIES EXPANSION COMPLETED.

Privacy Software, as part of datacenter server expansion, has installed all new servers throughout our facilities. As a result, FTP and EMAIL services were unavailable today as our operations are moved to our new data center servers, and routers. If you have received a "not connected" error from BOClean, it will be the result of accidental changes to our numerical IP addresses made by our upstream provider which were quickly repaired, and the failure of YOUR internet service provider choosing to CACHE "DNS lookups" rather than letting you get to the changed address directly. As a result, BOClean's updater could not "find" nsclean.com and thus assumed that it was being blocked by an errant firewall. CORRECT diagnosis by BOClean's updater - our site was "blackholed" but not by a firewall, but rather by its absence as far as YOUR ISP was concerned. Our new address simply did not exist to them.

It is possible that you might not be able to obtain an update for a period of 24 hours or longer depending on how long it takes your Internet Provider to "refresh their name server." There is nothing we can do if YOUR Internet Provider has not updated their name servers. This will be a one time event. Once your provider has updated, the problem will be solved, and the new addresses should last for a good long while given the extent of the complete reconfiguration of our facilities for a major ramp-up in institutional users which is the reason for the need to upgrade our facilities in the first place.

If you are unable to update, please try again later. It's only a matter of time until YOUR internet provider decides to check our address and replace what they have in their DNS server with the CORRECT location of your update. The problem however was solved hours ago, it is YOUR internet provider that is failing to resolve the correct address for all of our new equipment.
