That's a first for me out of all the licenses I bought, I would never buy software like that that's ridiculous I don't always install them right away.

This is one advantage of buying shrink wrapped software (if you can get it at a good price). In my experience it's more common for licenses to start ticking immediately when they are part of a free giveaway, I guess because the vendors don't want uses to stockpile free licenses, but I don't see a reason why a vendor would object to users saving purchased licenses.
