Give an example of an alternative to Traffic Light (full installer).

Please, consider the features of the product: http://trafficlight.bitdefender.com/features.html

Every AV webshield or several free products (AVG Linkscanner, Norton Safe Web, G Data CloudSecurity, PC Tools BrowserDefender, Finjan SecureBrowsing ...) :doubt:

    But let's wait and see ... :)

None of those are as complete as TF. Some of them have too many issues (AVG) or are not actively developed (PC Tools) or are little more than a rating app (Norton) or don't live on any more (Finjan is now M86).

But you're right, let's wait and see.

How does this one compare with WOT?

Is it more thorough in your tests?

WOT and Traffick Light are very different propositions.
Check both sites for what which one does.
Remember that there's one TF Full Install and the browser add-ons.

That said: wichever version of TF you will choose, they will work with WOT.

True... the full installer of TL scans web traffic for malwares using Bitdefender engine with its full signature.

Are you going to support more languages in the future? Or, is it just going to be English?

How can I remove this from firefox? I uninstalled the program due to slowdown, but it still shows up in firefox. I have tried going into extension, but it does not show up there.

I tried this a few weeks back and noticed big browsing slowdowns. Tried it again last night and now no slowdowns. Maybe they've done something to address that. Working fine here.

A while back when I tried the web installer I had a slow down problem, but now I'm using the latest extension for Firefox (0.1.22) and don't notice any impact on browsing speed. Of course the latest web installer may be fine as well, but I haven't gone back and tried it.

Must say its quite excellent at its job! blocks most if not all of the mdl listed pages...the rare occasion it doesn't catch it, the google malware database caught it or even MSE if all fails if its a direct download link...

I'm using Chrome 13. Will the full install of TrafficLight scan downloads with the BitDefender engine?

Then this is exactly what I have been looking for to go with Sandboxie, since downloads are my main vulnerability. I wrote BitDefender a few months ago asking if they had any on-demand software that would automatically scan downloads, and they said they were looking into how best to design such a program. I guess TrafficLight is what they were talking about.

edit: I realize this isn't exactly on-demand, but it is focused on the right area. And it can replace a couple of other Chrome extensions I was running.

I'm mainly concerned about checking downloaded files for malware. Is there any difference in the level of security for that between the TrafficLight extension for Chrome and the full install of TrafficLight?
